Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was on a hot streak when suddenly, three members left the squad out of nowhere. Jason, Zach, and Trini, the Red, Black, and Yellow Ranger, respectively, were replaced by three other characters fans barely knew. As disappointing as this was, it wasn't the last time that Rangers would be replaced by new additions.

The actors behind the Power Rangers are human, too. They want better working conditions or pay, or they don't want to be pigeonholed as Rangers forever. When an actor wants out, the writers try to give their character a natural exit. Sometimes, there's a story reason for a shift in Ranger powers, but it usually boils down to an actor wanting to move on.

Kimberly Ann Hart was the Mighty Morphin Pink Ranger throughout the first three seasons. She was on the team until she was selected to participate in a gymnastics competition on the other side of the country. She entrusted her Pink Ranger energy to Katherine, the one who inspired her to pursue gymnastics in the first place.

Amy Jo Johnson, who portrayed Kimberly, requested to leave the show to pursue other acting opportunities. She was granted a 10-episode arc leading to her departure from the show resulting in a more natural exit.

There was a female Red Ranger in the companion Sentai season, the series Power Rangers acquired much of their action sequences from. The writers needed to somehow write that into the show, so they chose to have Jayden's sister replace him. This was the first time a female Ranger replaced a male one.

Rocky had been on variopus Rangers teams since the second season of Mighty Morphin through Zeo. Things were looking bright for Rocky DeSantos. During a karate tournament in the Turbo movie, Rocky injured his back. Rocky's injury prevented him from moving forward with the Rangers in the Power Ranger Turbo TV series.

The Blue Turbo power was instead entrusted to a kid named Justin. Though Rocky gave him his blessing, the selection of Justin as the Blue Turbo Ranger was quite a divisive decision. The idea was intended to draw in younger viewers, showcasing a Power Ranger who was younger than previous members, but Justin added little to the team.

5 Aisha Went Through Some Weird Time Travel Shenanigans

Power Rangers Zeo

Aisha did well as Trini's replacement as the Yellow Ranger. She was a crucial part of the team numerous times. However, during the Alien Ranger saga, she decided to leave the team to take care of sick animals in Africa.

While Master Vile reversed time to turn the Rangers into children, Aisha returned to Africa to retrieve her Zeo powers. After she decided to stay in Africa, Tanya took up the Zeo power to become the Yellow Zeo Ranger. The reason for this sudden change was because actress Karan Ashley couldn't handle the production scheduling of the show.

The Zeo Rangers were sometimes assisted by the mysterious Gold Ranger, a Ranger not created by Zordon. After defeating the bounty hunter Borax, the Varox pursued the Gold Ranger until he crash-landed on Aquitar. The Aquitar Rangers sent the Gold Ranger, Trey, to Earth to seek out Zordon.

After arriving at Earth, Trey encountered the Rangers, but split into three beings due to his alien biology as a Triforian. He couldn't use the Gold powers anymore. Tommy Oliver looked for a new candidate for the Gold Ranger powers, landing on Jason Scott, the original Mighty Morphin Red Ranger.

3 The Pink Ranger Was Written Off Due To Illness

Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

Kendrix and Karone from Power Rangers Lost Galaxy

In Lost Galaxy, the Rangers had to contend with the evil Psycho Rangers. Somehow, Psycho Pink survived the initial encounter. Psycho Pink stabbed Cassie's In Space morpher and created a pink energy storm. After the Rangers defeated Psycho Pink, Kendrix (the then-Lost Galaxy Pink Ranger) went to destroy the Savage Sword, but was killed in the backlash blast.

Kendrix was written out of the series after her actress, Valerie Vernon, was diagnosed with leukemia. Following the events of this episode, Karone (disguised as her former identity of the villainous Astronema) retrieved the Pink Saber. After being thrown off a cliff, Karone is given the Pink Morpher by Kendrix's ghost and assumes the identity of the Pink Ranger until the end of the show.

2 Turbo Replaced Most Of The Cast

Power Rangers Turbo

The first and second generation Turbo rangers

Power Rangers Turbo is considered the weakest season of the original Zordon era. From replacing Zordon with an annoyingly vague mentor, to turning Alpha into a street-talking kid, fans don't look favorably on many of the changes made in Turbo.

Perhaps the most egregious change came in the form of four of the original Rangers (including fan-favorite Tommy Oliver) leaving the show and passing the torch to four other heroes. The heroes that fans had gotten used to just up and left. It didn't help that the writing for Carranger, the original Sentai series, was more comedic and clashed with the tone of Turbo.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

The power rangers gather to transfer powers from one team to another

The main six Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are iconic. Jason, Kimberly, Billy, Zach, Trini, and Tommy made the most highly regarded team of Rangers. However, behind-the-scenes turmoil led to the departure of a few of these faces. The actors behind Jason (Austin St. John), Zach (Walter Emanuel Jones), and Trini (Thuy Trang) asked for a pay raises with the upcoming Mighty Morphin movie, and when they were refused, they wanted out of the show.

As a result, the writers sent Jason, Zach, and Trini to Switzerland for a peace conference. At the same time, Rocky, Adam, and Aisha were introduced as visiting students from Stone Canyon. The three were picked as replacements for the Red, Black, and Yellow Mighty Morphin Rangers.
