The Power Rangers are among the strongest heroes around, using their abilities to defeat cosmic threats such as Rita Repulsa. However, the source of their powers -- the Morphin Grid -- has remained something of a mystery since the team was first introduced in the '90s. In this video, though, we're going to explain just what you need to know about the Morphin Grid and explain just how the Power Rangers get their powers. We'll talk about how the Morphin Grid works as a network entity and reaches across the galaxy.

Let's start with the basics: The Morphin Grid is pretty flexible in its appearance and acts as the source of the Power Rangers' abilities. However, the Morphin Grid isn't necessarily good or evil, as it also works to empower both Lord Zedd and Rita Repulsa. The entity is thus neutral and reminiscent of the Force in the Star Wars franchise, being maintained by a balance between good and evil. Also like the Force, the Morphin Grid is a field that extends across space, time and the multiverse.

Based on the Japanese Super Sentai franchise, Power Rangers was created by Haim Saban and Shuki Levy. The first English-language version of the series, titled Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, started in 1993 and ended in 1996. Since then, there have been a variety of comics, video games and other media based on the Power Rangers. A new TV installment in the franchise, titled Power Rangers Dino Fury, is set to premiere on Nickelodeon in 2021. There's also a new film in the works that will reboot, though no release date has been announced as of writing.
