Power Rangers Movie Toy Reveals Redesigned Putty Patrollers

by  in Movie News Comment

Looks like we haven’t seen the last of Power Rangers merchandising.

It may be 2017, but we’re getting a blast from our past with the new “Power Rangers” film and all-new Power Ranger action figures. The latest addition to the plaything pantheon? Rita’s less-than-formidable helpers the Putty Patrollers. The grey, literally-named henchmen will have their own action figures (as seen on the Toys “R” Us site). Look below and behold their fist-pumping might.

Putty Patrollers — or Putties, as they were often called in the original show — may not be as exciting as the mechanical Zords or the Rangers themselves, but the rebooted editions do seem notably more villainous than their former iteration. They actually resemble putty, for one, unlike  their 90’s selves, which were more like if the Green Man from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” fell into some wet cement.

The improved look of the Putties is a sign of hope for the upcoming “Power Rangers” film, which officially debuted its trailer last October. What could possibly compare to the wonderful action of the original 1993 series?

Directed by Dean Israelite (“Project: Almanac”) and starring Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Naomi Scott as the Pink Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, R.J. Cyler as the Blue Ranger and Becky Gomez (aka Becky G) as the Yellow Ranger, “Power Rangers” hits theaters March 24, 2017.
