Power Rangers Universe #5 will see the Morphin Master Teens face one of their greatest foes yet -- their own powers.

BOOM! Studios released a preview for Power Rangers Universe #5, which comes from writer Nicole Andelfinger (Draong Prince: Bloodmoon Huntress), artist Simone Ragazzoni (Odessa), colorist Mattia Iacono and letterer Ed Dukeshire. The synopsis for the issue reads, "On the Masterforge, the Morphin Master Teens and the Morphinaut feel the aftershock of the smoking crater on Earth’s surface. At the mysterious crash site, their new powers and skill sets are put to the test against a horde of Foot Soldiers! But what happens when their powers start to fail… and even begin to turn against them?"

Power Rangers Universe is a limited series from BOOM! that dives into some of the deepest secrets that have haunted the teenage superheroes, such as the origin of the mysterious Phantom Ranger/Morphinaut. "From the very start of our partnership with Hasbro to bring the Power Rangers to life on the comic book page, we always knew that we wanted to explore the many morphinominal teams and worlds in the POWER RANGERS UNIVERSE," BOOM! Studios senior editor Dafna Pleban previously said. "Now, thanks to the incredible success of the ongoing series and the enthusiastic support of fans and readers, we’re realizing that years-long dream by delving into the untold stories that fans have been clamoring for!"

In celebration of the 100th issue at BOOM!, the publisher also recently announced a "Charge to 100" crossover event that brings together the Power Rangers and the Omega Rangers. The event begins in April with Mighty Morphin #18 (legacy issue #90) from Mat Groom and Moisés Hidalgo and Power Rangers #18 (legacy issue #91) from Ryan Parrott and Marco Renna before reaching its conclusion in September.

Power Rangers is currently celebrating its 29th continuous year on television, making it one of the longest-running kids' live-action series in history. To date, Power Rangers, which began in 1993 by creator Haim Saban, has aired over 900 episodes. Netflix recently premiered the second season of Power Rangers Dino Fury, which sees the Rangers channel some prehistoric power to defeat an alien threat.
