No big-budget superhero movie is complete without a post- or mid-credits scene these days. The modern incarnation of the trend started with Marvel's Cinematic Universe, which saw the introduction of Samuel L. Jackson as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury after "Iron Man" had concluded. The tradition has continued ever since, spreading far beyond Marvel's movie outings. The latest franchise to include a post-credits scene will be Dean Israelite's "Power Rangers" revival, though the film won't make audiences wait until every last name has scrolled by.

Speaking in an interview with Collider, director Dean Israelite confirmed that the stinger will actually play midway through the credit roll and will hint at things to come in a potential "Power Rangers" sequel.

“It was always gonna be sort of a post-credits scene,” Israelite said. “The only thing that we debated about that was where it comes two and a half minutes into the…after the main one ends, or is it gonna come right at the end of the credits. So we decided to kind of break the credits up.”

Nothing is known about the actual content of the mid-credits teaser, but there is some speculation that the stinger will hint at the Rangers' next big bad. With Elizabeth Banks playing the alien witch Rita Repulsa, there's a chance her inevitable inability to destroy the Rangers will result in her master, Lord Zedd, having to make an appearance.

Of course, there's a distinct possibility that the mid-credits scene could point towards a sixth Ranger. The original "Mighty Morphin Powers Rangers" television show gradually introduced another Ranger to the mix, Tommy Oliver, who would go on to become both the Green Ranger and, later, the White Ranger. If the Green Ranger, who first appeared in the episode "Green with Evil," doesn't appear in the film, there's a solid chance he could show up in the mid-credit roll.

"Power Rangers" is the universal reboot of the 1993 children's superhero show "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" that originally aired on Fox. The show followed the exploits of five teens who were tasked with defending the Earth from evil by the alien sage Zordon. With the aid of their massive robots, called Zords, the rangers defended their hometown of Angel Grove, and the world, from the likes of Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd and their minions.

Debuting in theaters on March 24, "Power Rangers" is a production of Temple Hill Entertainment directed by Dean Israelite and starring Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Bill Hader, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Banks.
