WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Might Morphin #1 by Ryan Parrott, Marco Renna, Walter Baiamonte, Katia Ranalli, and Ed Dukeshire, on sale now.

For the first time in a long time, the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are officially back on top. After dealing with a terrifying new threat, and subsequently being saved by a mysterious new ally, the Rangers can finally take some time to kick back and take it easy. While the heroes celebrate, the villains plot their next move. Lord Zedd is still incapacitated from his crushing defeat at the hands of the new Green Ranger, and his lackeys aren't sure what their next play needs to be. They decide to try and capture the Green Ranger so that they'll be in Zedd's good graces when he wakes. Zedd might be out for now, but that doesn't mean he isn't a threat, and his latest loss may have even made him stronger than ever before.

On Earth, Billy and Alpha 5 are hard at work alongside Zordon, trying to unravel the mysteries of where the new Green Ranger came from and who he could be, but so far are entirely unsuccessful. It would seem that this new Ranger doesn't carry any of the usual markers of Morphin or Power Coin energies. This makes sense, considering that when they fought, Zedd told the Green Ranger that he could feel the Chaos Energy radiating off of him. That same Chaos Energy is what Zedd harnessed within the Chaos Crystal that he used to empower the Dark Rangers and their Terrorzords. When the Green Ranger destroyed the Chaos Crystal, it unleashed that energy, stripping the Dark Rangers of their powers and putting an end to their assault on Angel Grove and the Power Rangers. It also left Zedd unconscious at the foot of his own throne once he made his retreat.

Lord Zedd Injured

On the moon, Squat, Baboo, Goldar, and Finster all toil over the still unconscious Zedd, wondering what they should do to revive their lord. Baboo remarks that they must consider Zedd may never wake up, considering the amounts of Chaos Energy he absorbed when the Chaos Crystal was destroyed. Concerned for what Zedd will do to them as punishment for yet another defeat at the hands of the Power Rangers, Baboo suggests that they make an attempt to capture the Green Ranger to present to Lord Zedd whenever he recovers from his current state. After sorting out the plan, the villains leave to work out the details, but upon their exit Zedd raises one of his menacing clawed hands.

The four monsters unleash a small army of Putties on Angel Grove alongside the warrior panda beast Pandamonium. The Power Rangers are ready for a fight, but before they can leap into action, the Green Ranger has already jumped headfirst into the fight with no entrance or warning. As the Green Ranger knocks Pandamonium to the ground without breaking a sweat, Adam contacts Alpha 5 through his com and confirms that Drakkon is still in his cell, putting to rest that possibility. Before long, the Rangers have overtaken the Putties, and the Green Ranger has put an end to Pandamonium's short lived existence. Without a word, the Green Ranger teleports away, all while Zedd's minions look on in abject disappointment from their place on the moon. Now that their first plan has failed, Baboo only knows of one other way to bring Lord Zedd back, but it's going to require that one of them sacrifices their life for his.

Lord Zedd Returns

Baboo doesn't get the chance to finish explaining how his backup plan works, though, when he is interrupted by the arrival of Lord Zedd sporting a mean new look. With tubes implanted all over his body, carrying his newly acquired power through them, Zedd tells his underlings that he is indeed very much still alive. Zedd isn't just alive, he's stronger, now so full of Chaos Energy that it is literally radiating off of him. The new and improved Zedd tells the others that the "explosion delivered me to the edge of the great divide... it has strengthened my body and cleared my mind." Zedd says that he had forgotten that he was there in the first place, but now that all of his demons are coming back to him, he is ready to welcome them with open arms.

This ominous phrase is concerning indeed. Lord Zedd was already one of the deadliest enemies in the Power Rangers' rogues gallery, and now that he is supercharged with the same Chaos Energy that makes the Green Ranger such a powerful warrior, Zedd is more lethal than ever. With one of their deadliest enemies more focused than ever, the Rangers are going to need some serious backup to deal with whatever he has planned for them next.
