Power Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to show an overwhelming amount of support for the new, non-binary Death Ranger.

Announced by writer Paul Allor and created by Ryan Parrott, the Death Ranger is new, non-binary addition to the Power Rangers who uses they/them pronouns, as does the Ranger's entire alien race. Allor posted a first look at the Death Ranger, who will officially debut in August's Power Rangers Unlimited: The Death Ranger #1, onto Twitter on May 20. Since then, a countless number of fans have shown massive support for the new character and posted reactions declaring their love for the Death Ranger.

Allor personally responded to a number of fans' reactions over Twitter. "I did start just liking the 'this is awesome!' ones (which I loved) and responding to the 'the representation we need'/'this is me' ones. I just want everyone excited about this to know they're seen. And that they deserve...a pop culture villain rep? Yeah, you get it, you get it." Allor followed up by posting, "I'm sure I didn't see some because algorithm, so meta-response to the two most common QTs: 'The representation I wanted!' And the representation you DESERVE! 'This is literally just me!' Yes, it ABSOLUTELY is. And thank you for the inspiration. I love you all."

Releasing this summer from Allor, artist Katherine Lobo and cover artist Keyla K. Valerio, the synopsis for BOOM! Studios' Power Rangers Unlimited: The Death Ranger #1 reads, "THE LEGENDARY OMEGA RANGERS defended the universe from evil thousands of years ago, the six of them using their elemental powers to protect others from sister forces. But that all changed when one key member turned on the others, seduced by the death-defying powers of the Rangers' greatest foe. How does this Ranger connect to what's locked in the mysterious Omega Vault in Safehaven so many millennia later, as everything converges in the high-anticipated CHARGE TO 100?"

“We’re continuing the epic CHARGE TO 100 with a new type of Ranger you’ve never encountered before,” said BOOM! Studios Senior Editor Dafna Pleban. “Just like the introduction of fan favorites Lord Drakkon, the Ranger Slayer, and countless other characters who’ve taken on a life of their own, it’s time to meet a dark and ominous figure from the ancient recesses of Morphin history… the DEATH RANGER!”

Power Rangers Unlimited: The Death Ranger #1 features variant cover art by Goñi Montes, Derrick Chew and more. It releases in August from Boom! Studios.
