WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Power Rangers #11, available now from Boom! Studios.

In the depths of space, the Omega Rangers have been battling through the darkest days they have ever known. While the Mighty Morphin team is reeling from the revelation that their closest allies have been working against them this entire time on Earth, the Omega Rangers have just made an almost equally shocking discovery about the threat they are up against. The Empyreals that have been ravaging the cosmos are tied directly to the Guardians of Eltar, and they even have a direct connection to the Emissaries themselves.

The Omega Rangers' search for a means of defeating their Empyreal foes has brought them to what seems like the middle of empty space. Of course, the landscape they find isn't quite deserted. There the heroes discover the last living member of the Emissaries Three, although they aren't happy to see the Rangers after having warned them away once already. When the Yellow Emissary refuses to fight alongside the Omegas, Trini reminds them that they are only there to figure out how to defeat the Empyreals on their own. As the Emissary reveals in Power Rangers #11 by Ryan Parrott, Francesco Mortarino, Raul Angulo, Jose Enrique Fernandez and Ed Dukeshire, however, that isn't something that can be achieved by any simple means, especially when their lives are so closely tied to the Emissaries' deaths.

The Yellow Emissary explains that the death of their Blue counterpart at the hands of Kiya was the event that set all of this in motion. As it turns out, the Emissaries were acting as a sort of chain which held their own universe's bounds firm against those of other realms. When their near omnipresence led the Emissaries Three to grow lax in their judgment, Kiya's actions broke that chain and allowed for the first Empyreal to cross into our universe under the command of Zartus, Supreme Guardian and current wielder of the Zeo Crystal.

Now that two of the Empyreals have made that jump, it is only a matter of time before they hunt down the last remaining Emissary to bring forth their own final sibling. IWith this, Zartus will have all the power he needs to remake the universe in his own twisted image, and it's a fate that seems to be completely unavoidable by the very nature of the Empyreals alone.

The fact that the Empyreals are so closely tied to the Emissaries seems to confirm the theory that they are shadows to their benevolent counterparts, and it solidifies the fact that their arrival cannot be halted. The Yellow Emissary is already willing to sacrifice itself if that is what needs to happen, and that death also paves the way for the final Empyreal to come into the Rangers' reality. Assuming the Empyreals are as connected to the Zeo Crystal as they are to the Emissaries, that may be the only way to defeat them. If nothing else, at least the Omega Rangers have a better idea of what exactly it is they are up against.
