WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Power Rangers #2 by Ryan Parrott, Francesco Mortarino, Raul Angulo, and Ed Dukeshire, on sale now.

The Omega Rangers have a terrifying new threat to confront, one that they've seen firsthand eradicate an entire world without breaking a sweat. Left with no other option and time running out fast, the team abducted Drakkon from Zordon's custody in an act of previously unthinkable betrayal.

This drastic and desperate course of action is more than questionable, and it's even beginning to create rifts among the Omega Rangers and their allies much closer than Earth. It even calls back to one of the most tragic stories in Ranger history involving the mysterious Blue Emissary. But who was the Blue Emissary, and what happened to them that could shake the team this deeply?

Aboard their ship, the Spectrum II, Jason and Xi are discussing their voyage when Xi makes a remark about their status as intergalactic outlaws after the Omega Rangers kidnapped Drakkon. The two are at odds not regarding Drakkon's value as one of the only surviving people with knowledge of the Empyreals, but rather with the methods the team employed to acquire him. When he can't get Xi to see his side of things, Jason reminds him that it was Jason who the Blue Emissary chose to lead the Omega Rangers. Xi already knows where this is going, and tells Jason he isn't intent on watching what happened to the Blue Emissary take place again.

The Emissaries Three were a trio of mysterious entities who represented the Morphin Masters. Appearing as constantly shifting incarnations of the Yellow, Red, and Blue Rangers throughout history respectively, the Emissaries were directly connected to the Morphin Grid and helped the Rangers reset the universe after the events of "Shattered Grid." When the universe needed them, the Blue Emissary formed the Omega Rangers personally, choosing Jason, Zack, Trini, Kiya for the new incarnation of the team. As well-intentioned and trusting as the Blue Emissary was, it would ultimately prove to be their downfall. Kiya's growing concern that their universe's Tommy Oliver would become another Drakkon, and the Blue Emissary's admission to giving Tommy the White Light, caused Kiya to become disillusioned with her mentor, and she took the Blue Emissary's life by quite literally stabbing them in the back.

Now, it seems there might be a genuine concern of these past events repeating themselves. Jason and the rest of the Omega Rangers are well aware that what they did wasn't necessarily the right thing, but Drakkon's working knowledge of the Empyreals is too valuable not to have at their side. Of course, Drakkon hasn't wasted any time sewing discontent among the Omegas, and is very clearly more concerned with his own survival than he is the fate of the universe as a whole.

As unlikely as it is that Jason has forgotten what happened to his former mentor, Xi probably isn't wrong that he can't see where things are already headed. Hopefully, the Omega Rangers really are in control of the situation, and not just being led into another one of Drakkon's traps.
