Original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers star Amy Jo Johnson dispels rumors surrounding her absence from the 30th anniversary specialIn a tweet on March 26, Johnson explained away the rumors that have arisen in the wake of the news that she will not be appearing in the upcoming Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always Netflix special. Johnson implored fans to "Stop saying I didn't do the reunion because of money. Simply not true." She also noted that "[Jason David Frank] and I both chose not to for our own reasons. In January, Johnson offered fans an explanation of why she hadn't signed on to reprise her iconic role as Kimberly Ann Hart, better known as the original Pink Ranger. At the time, Johnson stated, "For the record I never said no... I just didn't say yes to what was offered. But other fun stuff is in-store! Looking forward to watching my friends kick ass!"

Power Rangers Loses One of Its Originals

The special's other notable absence is Jason David Frank, who portrayed Tommy Oliver on the original series and across multiple iterations of the Power Rangers franchise. Although Frank tragically passed away in November 2022, his legacy has continued on in the world of BOOM! Studios' Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics, and in his final film, Legend of the White Dragon, which is set to premiere in select theaters across North America on Sept. 1.

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Once & Always is set to mark the return of fan favorites and original Blue and Black Rangers David Yost and Walter Emanuel Jones, who will be returning to the roles of Billy Cranston and Zack Taylor respectively. The special will also see Steve Cardenas and Johnny Yong Bosch return to their roles of the second-generation Red and Black Rangers, Rocky DeSantos and Adam Park. Speaking on the reunion bringing together Rangers who have previously never appeared on screen together, Jones said, "We're a family of Rangers, so to finally be on a set with them was really interesting."

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Once & Always premieres on Netflix on April 19.
