Actor David Denman, perhaps best known for his role on the U.S. version of "The Office," has joined Lionsgate's "Power Rangers" movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he'll play Sam Scott, the father of Jason Scott/Red Ranger, who's often at odds with his son over Jason's football career.

Directed by Dean Israelite, the big-screen update of the long-running franchise stars Dacre Montgomery as Jason the Red Ranger, RJ Cyler as Billy the Blue Ranger, Naomi Scott as Kimberly the Pink Ranger, Becky G as Trini the Yellow Ranger, Ludi Lin as Zack the Black Ranger, and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa.

Denham, who recently appeared in Michael Bay's "13 Hours," will next be seen on the Cinemax adaptation of "Outcast" by Robert Kirkman and Paul Azaceta.
