WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Power Pack #2 by Ryan North, Nico Leon, Rachelle Rosenberg and VC's Travis Lanham, on sale now.

The Marvel Universe has no shortage of terrifying threats and maniacal villains, though those things don't comprise the entirety of what heroes and vigilantes have to deal with. For the youngest generation of Marvel superheroes, the "Outlawed" crossover event has introduced legislation has come into effect that could see them behind bars if they do good in uniform without direct adult supervision.

And in Power Pack #2, the Power Family has found themselves on the wrong side of the law. Luckily, there's a benevolent new hero who has taken it upon himself to offer a hand. Unfortunately, he isn't someone who the Power Pack should have grabbed on to.

The Boogeyman's surprise return via an assault on a local orphanage drew the Power Pack back into action, as well as into the crosshairs of federal agents. The kids do their best to talk their way out of detainment, but there doesn't seem to be any swaying the official in charge. Before anyone can be formally arrested, Marvel's newest, boldest hero swoops down to save the day. Agent Aether arrives in dramatic fashion and immediately offers his credentials as a registered mentor under Kamala's Law and offers to take responsibility for the Power Pack.

Even a registered superhero isn't enough to get the Powers siblings out of the fire, but that combined with a very convincing sounding argument on Julie's part buys them twenty-four hours to find a legal mentor. They're appreciative of Agent Aether's offer, but choose to take a day to seek out other potential candidates -- which might be the smartest decision they've ever made.

Though they go to great lengths to find anyone who is willing to offer them guidance, the Power Pack are unable to do so. Time is running out for them to get in the clear as far as the government is concerned, so they reach out to their first and now last option, and Agent Aether flies down to greet them once again. He explains to the kids that he doesn't want to concern himself with showing them the ropes of superheroics, as they have that figured out for themselves already. Instead, he offers to give them opportunities to put their powers to other good use, primarily by applying them to different sustainable energy projects. It isn't a traditional superhero role, but it's one that the Power Pack are receptive to, and they take Agent Aether up on his offer. It seems almost too good to be true, and of course, it undoubtedly is.

Back at his home base, Agent Aether is hard at work on one of his machines when the Boogeyman arrives after having made a daring escape from prison. Agent Aether orders the literal demon to power down, revealing it to be nothing more than a mechanized replica of the Power Pack's tormentor, while Agent Aether reveals himself to be none other than classic Fantastic Four villain the Wizard.

The founder of the Frightful Four doesn't seem concerned with keeping his secret identity hidden long, proclaiming that within a day he will have the Power Pack right where he wants them and will be able to drop the facade. It isn't clear what the Wizard has in store for Marvel's youngest super team, but whatever it is, the end goal appears to be world domination, though there is a lot of competition regarding that particular endeavor already. While his return might not be shocking to readers, the fact that the Wizard has decided to go after the Powers siblings is. After all, the villain usually has what could be considered loftier goals than tricking and trapping a group of children. Whatever he's up to, there's a good chance the Power Pack will be able to handle it. Looks like they might need to try guilting Tony Stark into hanging out with them again after all.
