For those of you on tenterhooks about the plot to Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, the sequel to Columbia Pictures’ widely panned 2007 comic-book adaptation, your wait just may be over. Italian website Comicus contends it uncovered a draft of the film, credited to FlashForward‘s Scott Gimple and Seth Hoffman from a story by Davide S. Goyer. Warning: Possible spoilers follow.
Through the magic of Google Translator, Comic Book Movie discerns that the sequel, directed by the Crank team of Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, picks up a year after the first film, with Johnny Blaze (Nicolas Cage, naturally) living in self-imposed exile. Blaze is approached by Moreau, a monk of the Order of St. Michael, who requires his stuntman talents to find a woman named Nadya and her son Danny, “who must be protected at all costs.” But there’s someone else on their trail: someone named Roarke, who apparently has a connection to Our Hero.
What are the odds that Danny turns out to be Danny Ketch?
Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance is set to begin filming in Romania as early as this fall — in 3-D, no less. It’s produced by Avi Arad, Michael De Luca and Steven Paul, with Goyer and Mark Steven Johnson executive producing. The first Ghost Rider grossed almost $230 million worldwide.
