Over the generations, the Pokémon franchise has introduced almost 900 individual Pokémon, each with its own unique design. From floating noses made of rock to sentient chandeliers, Pokémon has given fans no shortage of fantastical creatures and wild taxonomies to keep them aiming to "catch 'em all."

With such biodiversity in their universe, it's no surprise that many of these Pokémon possess unorthodox and even outlandish morphologies and accessories. Unlike some of the more predictable Pokémon, like the egg-wielding Chansey or the marsupial-inspired Kangaskhan, others have a monopoly on carrying unexpected flashy objects that may leave trainers scratching their heads.

10 Kadabra And Alakazam Use Silver Spoons To Amplify Their Psychic Abilities

Alakazam using its Psychic powers in the Pokemon anime

Possibly two of the most iconic Pokémon who carry strange accessories are Kadabra and its intimidating evolution, Alakazam. Introduced in the very first of the Pokémon generations, these Psychic-type Pokémon are famous for utilizing various spoons, Kadabra having one and Alakazam having many.

Their spoons, which are always made of silver, play an integral role in their usage of the Kinesis attack. These spoons have real-life inspiration as Kadabra and Alakazam's designs hearken back to psychokinesis and the spoon-bending feats popularized in the 1970s by paranormal researchers.

9 Delphox Uses A Stick To Summon Flames And Channel Psychic Power

Delphox releases a beam of fire

Like Kadabra and Alakazam, Delphox also uses a handheld accessory to channel its powers. Delphox serves as the final evolution of the starter Pokémon Fennekin introduced in Generation VI. Delphox, like its pre-evolution Braixen, makes use of a twig as a conduit for its Fire-type attacks.

However, Delphox, being a Fire/Psychic dual-type, can also use this as a wand to amplify its psychic energy. According to the franchise, Delphox can use the wand to both see into the future and produce a specialized attack called Mystical Fire.

8 Hypno And Its Pendulum Put Other Pokémon To Sleep

Pokemon Hypno gasps as he notices his pendulum is broken

Another Psychic-type to join the ranks of well-accessorized Pokémon, Hypno uses a pendulum to send its opponents into a deep sleep. Hypno then combines this strategy with the move Dream Eater to absorb life force from its slumbering, and thus vulnerable, enemies.

Like its other first-generation compatriots, Kadabra and Alakazam, this Pokémon's accessory is based on tactics used and studied by hypnotherapists, parapsychologists, and paranormal researchers. While its pendulum isn't as flashy as Alakazam's spoons, Hypno certainly makes use of its accessory and is never seen without it.

7 The Always-Bouncing Spoink Relies On Clamperl's Pearl

The ever-adorable Spoink is most notable for its spring-like tail and its inability to stop bouncing, the result of which would be heart failure. However, the pearl it carries on top of its head also has an interesting story. In the episode "Pearls are a Spoink's Best Friend" in Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire, it's revealed that Spoinks get their pearls from Clamperls, which they use to channel their Psychic attacks, not unlike other Psychic-type Pokémon.

6 Komala, The Drowsing Pokémon, Sleeps Comfortably With The Log It Clings To

Komala sleeps atop a palm tree while clutching its log

Komala carries a log not for battle purposes or a specific job, as other Pokémon do, but for comfort. According to the Ultra Moon Pokédex entry, Komala, like the real-life koalas that inspired its design, has a diet of sedative leaves that render it asleep for its entire life. Its log serves as a source of comfort to allow Komala to dream peacefully, and without it, a Komala will thrash about. Any movement a Komala makes can be chalked up to its vivid dreams.

5 The Space-Warping Hoopa Uses Golden Hoops To Activate Its Powers

Pokemon Hoopa Confined stands at the ready

Hoopa Confined is a dual Psychic/Ghost Pokémon whose name is derived from the golden rings it wears. Hoopa can transform into Hoopa Unbound, during which it grows in size and becomes a Dark/Psychic dual-type. Its hoops are used to teleport objects, as its signature ability is manipulating space. This is best seen through Hoopa Confined's attack Hyperspace Hole and Hoopa Unbound's Hyperspace Fury. These unique moves make Hoopa stand out amongst the other Mythical Pokémon of Generation VI.

4 Klefki Can't Help Stealing And Hoarding Keys For Its Collection

Klefki floats with two golden, glowing keys Pokémon

Some Pokémon resemble inanimate objects rather than animals or humanoid figures. The tiny Steel/Fairy dual-type, Klefki, is identifiable by its key ring shape and the many keys which it carries around its body.

In the short Pokémon: Pikachu, What's This Key?, a single Klefki is the owner of a mountainous collection of keys, some of which open doors to other realms. Not all Klefki steal or scavenge their keys, though. In fact, some trainers entrust their Klefki with the safety of particularly special keys. In the episode "Dreaming a Performer's Dream!" a Klefki can be spotted holding the Princess Key for Monsieur Pierre.

3  The Fruit-Flinging Passimian Uses Its Accessory For Attack And Defense

Pokemon A troop of Passimian stare at viewer

Generation VII's Fighting-type Pokémon, Passimian, is another animal-inspired Pokémon that resembles a lemur. It carries around fruit, which it uses as a projectile during combat, and wears half of this fruit on its head as a way to both distinguish itself from other Passimian troops, as seen in the banned episode SM064, and to protect itself.

While many of the Pokémon on this list use their accessories in unexpected, albeit fitting, ways, Passimian's usage of fruit is straightforward and true to form for the primate-inspired Pokémon.

2 The Knightly Farfetch'd And Sirfetch'd Turn Leeks Into Formidable Weapons

A Farfetch'd wielding a leek in the Pokemon anime

When thinking about Pokémon who carry strange objects, it's hard to leave the iconic first-generation Normal/Flying type Pokémon, Farfetch'd, out of the conversation. How can fans forget chasing it and its leek around Ilex Forest in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal? Like Passimian, Farfetch'd is famous for its use of food as a combat weapon.

Its evolved form, Sirfetch'd, which was introduced in Generation VIII as the next step in a Galarian Farfetch'd's evolution, has perfected the art of leek weaponry, as its stalk of leek or spring onion is transformed into a leafy sword and shield.

1 The Demolition-Loving Gurdurr Can't Be Separated From Its I-Beam

Gurdurr wields an I-beam

The final Pokémon on this list is another Fighting-type Pokémon from Generation V. While its pre-evolved form Timburr carries around the unusual, but not unimaginable, log, Gurdurr is recognizable by the massive metal beam it carries with it. Gurdurr, like Timburr and its final evolution, the cement-wielding Conkeldurr, spends its time assisting construction workers with various heavy-duty tasks. While in a close race with Conkeldurr for a position on this list, Gurdurr outshines Conkeldurr in its attachment to such a strange man-made object.
