Pokemon TV Series and Movies Head to Disney XD

by  in TV News Comment

Get ready to catch ’em all, again, this time on Disney XD.

The Pokémon Company International has announced a new multiyear deal that makes Disney XD the new home in the United States for Pokémon animated content. That means the cable channel, and its platforms, will carry the upcoming 20th — yes, 20th! — season of the “Pokémon” animated series, titled “Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon,” as well as much of the Pokémon animated library, which includes the previous 19 seasons and 15 movies.

Featuring new characters, “Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon” will debut in early 2017 on Disney XD. But before then, the feature-length animated film “Pokémon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel” will premiere on the cable channel on Dec. 5, when viewers will also get a sneak peek at the first two episodes of “Sun & Moon.”

“During our 20-year celebration, fans’ appetite for Pokémon is at an all-time high, and The Pokémon Company International is thrilled to join forces with Disney XD as the new home for Pokémon animation in the U.S.,” Emily Arons, senior vice president at The Pokémon Company International, said in a statement. “Disney XD is the perfect way to deliver Pokémon animation to kids and fans across the country on its multiple platforms.”
