The Pokémon Company has revealed Evolving Skies, the next expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Sword and Shield Series.
The upcoming expansion, slated to release after the incoming Chilling Reign expansion, will focus primarily on Eevee and its variety of evolutions. According to The Pokémon Company, this will be the first time all of Eevee's evolutions have been collected into a single expansion. All of the evolutions, including Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Umbreon, Espeon, Glaceon, Leafeon and Sylveon, will be available as both Pokémon V and VMAX cards. Some of the evolutions will also have "Battle Styles," such as Single Strike Flareon VMAX or Rapid Strike Vaporeon VMAX.
Beyond the inclusion of new Eevee evolutions, Evolving Skies will also feature several new versions of some of the more iconic Dragon Pokémon. Rayquaza VMAX and Duraludon VMAX both make their Sword and Shield Series debut through the upcoming expansion.
The full extent of the Evolving Skies expansion includes:
- 15 Pokémon VMAX
- 18 Pokémon V and 33 full-art Pokémon V
- 24 Trainer cards and five full-art Supporter cards
- A new Special Energy card
Players will be able to find Sword and Shield - Evolving Skies cards in booster packs, special collections and two versions of the Elite Trainer Box; The first version of the box will sport images of Umbreon, Flareon, Jolteon, and Leafeon while the second version features Sylveon, Vaporeon, Glaceon, and Espeon.
Players who want to experience the new cards early can pick up the Sword & Shield—Evolving Skies Build & Battle Box, which will be available through all participating retailers, on August 14. Each Build and Battle Box includes four Evolving Skies booster packs, a 23 card Evolution pack that features both old and new cards as well as a deckbuilding guide.
Before Evolving Skies launches, players can look forward to Chilling Reign, the latest expansion to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Launching on June 18, Chilling Reign includes 190 new cards, including 15 new Pokémon V cards, 8 Pokémon VMAX cards and over 25 new Trainer Cards. The new set also includes Galarian forms of the three of Pokémon's most iconic creatures: Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres.
Evolving Skies launches worldwide on August 27. More details on the expansion will likely be revealed closer to release.
