Due to frustration with the number of glitches and bugs, some Pokémon Scarlet and Violet gamers are trying to get their money back.

According to Dual Shockers, many individuals have reached out to Nintendo to request refunds, and some have reportedly succeeded. Gamers have taken to Reddit to explain their success with one user writing, "My $60 is gonna go to some more deserving devs."

Before the Nov. 18 release of Scarlet and Violet, the hype for the new titles was high. Nintendo and Game Freak fed into the anticipation by teasing entries in the games' expanded Pokédex. Several fans took this a step further by discovering and leaking substantial amounts of important information about Scarlet and Violet like potential new evolutions for classic Pokémon.

Scarlet and Violet Have Been Hits Despite the Issues

This marketing strategy paid off, as Takahito Utsunomiya, the chief operating officer of The Pokémon Company, recently revealed that preorders for Scarlet and Violet were the largest in the franchise's history. The games have also blown away sales records for Nintendo Switch, selling more than 10 million combined units in the first three days of release. And while some are seeking refunds due to the performance issues, other Pokémon fans are embracing the glitches. Social media users have shared countless fun exploits of the various bugs, with one fan creating a hilarious Scarlet and Violet dance video compiling some of the weirdest glitches.

Critics are split on Scarlet and Violet as well. Metro's David Jenkins, for example, wrote, "Scarlet and Violet requires a significant amount of goodwill on the part of the player to seem like a cohesive world." In contrast, GameSpot's Jake Dekker said the games' "new approach to the tried-and-true Pokémon formula reinvigorates the mainline series and delivers one of the most challenging and rewarding Pokémon adventures to date."

Scarlet and Violet introduce fans and gamers to the ninth generation of pocket monsters, including the new starters, Sprigatito, Fuecoco and Quaxly, and legendaries, Koraidon and Miraidon. The Games also showcase the brand-new Spain-inspired region of Paldea while expanding upon the open-world mechanics of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, released earlier this year to rave reviews.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available now on the Nintendo Switch.
