Pokémon Scarlet and Violet unveiled their latest addition to the Pokédex -- Gym Leader Iono's partner, the electric frog Bellibolt.

Using Iono's "Supercharged Streamer" reputation, the games revealed the newest Pokémon in a YouTuber-style video, albeit with flair typical of the series. Bellibolt looks like a giant green and yellow frog that generates electricity from its large belly, as its name suggests. It also possesses enormous fake eyes on the side of its head, with a real face reminiscent of Ditto's sitting front and center. The official Pokémon Scarlet and Violet website offers more insight into the strange new pocket monster.

"Bellibolt expands and contracts its elastic body to generate electricity in an organ that looks like a belly button," Bellibolt's descriptions read on the website. "The huge amount of electricity generated this way is then discharged from the two bumps on either side of its head that resemble eyeballs. Its actual eyes are adorably small and round, so when it tries to be intimidating, it puts the eyelike bumps to good use."

It also notes that Bellibolt proves difficult to train, as it has a peaceful nature that makes it reluctant to attack first. They also make strange noises from their bellies when they get hungry after sunset, though some mistake it for its cries. Bellibolt has a unique Ability known as Electromorphosis, never before seen in the Pokémon games. When another Pokémon attacks it, Bellibolt charges up, boosting its next Electric-type attack.

New and Returning Pocket Monsters in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

With its release just around the corner, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have teased a few of the newest additions to the Generation IX Pokédex. It recently revealed its first Convergent Pokémon with Wiglett, a related creature to Gen I's Diglett but with a separate Pokédex entry. It received mixed reactions from fans, with some finding Wiglett adorable and others describing it as "suggestive." Other recent reveals include the stone crab Klawf and the Mega Man-styled Armarouge and Ceruledge.

Recent leaks also provided a bit more insight into potentially returning Pokémon. Pokémon leaker Centro LEAKS (@CentroLeaks) posted a Tweet claiming to reveal all 297 returning pocket monsters. Some of these include Eevee and all its evolution forms, Slowpoke and Gengar. The Typhlosion, Decidueye and Samurott also make a comeback, but those final evolutions only return as their Hisuian forms.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released on the Nintendo Switch on Nov. 18.
