This week saw the release of the latest generation of Pokémon games in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Suffice it to say, as one of the leading game franchises that Nintendo has to offer, players were eager to get their hands on the game and to start their new adventure in the Paldea region where they would go to school, catch Titan Pokémon, battle Team Star, and face off against gyms.

However, despite everyone's anticipation, Scarlet & Violet didn't live up to the hype. The new games were inundated with glitches, didn't run properly, and sometimes needed a hard reset to continue.

10 The FPS Is Insanely Slow At Times

Bugs and glitches in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

A game's FPS depicts the rate at which everything in the game moves. The standard FPS for most games is 30, and generally, the higher the FPS is, the better. Yet, in some circumstances, the FPS in Scarlet and Violet is insanely slow for a game so modern.

NPCs in the distance of any area move very slowly until the player approaches them, at which point they start to move at a normal pace. Slow frame rates can also be seen in the school when the player is attending class. The students in class can be seen idly swinging their legs, but the movement is disjointed and odd.

9 Some Emotes Cause Body Horror

When gaming, players love the chance to express themselves and their various emotions about what's happening around them. As with many other games, Pokémon made this possible with the use of Emotes, temporary actions that players can use to make their character clap, smile, boor, or jeer, among other things.

However, certain Emotes in Scarlet & Violet are broken. Some left the characters with frozen expressions, even through cutscenes, and others resulted in body horror which left the character's limbs broken, mangled, and generally horrifying.

8 Players Can Run At Double Speed With A Second Controller

For years, players have attempted to complete speed runs of Pokémon, and players of Scarlet & Violet are no different. However, Scarlet & Violet players have an extra advantage: with an extra controller, they can run at double the base speed.

This glitch was shared on a Reddit thread and is fairly simple to exploit. With a second JoyCon controller or the addition of a ProCon controller, players can set the camera angle in such a way that forces the character to run at double speed. However, while this glitch is great for speed runners, its only flaw is that it cannot be used while riding Koraidon or Miraidon.

7 Pokémon & NPCs Disappear Before The Player's Eyes

In the world of Pokémon, there are a number of reasons that people or Pokémon might disappear. They could be kidnapped by Team Rocket, fall into one of Paldean Diglett's tunnels, or they might even be carried away by a Drifloon which was once known for stealing children.

Yet in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, NPCs and Pokémon vanish from the screen without a trace or an explanation. It isn't part of a cutscene or the main story. It's simply a glitch that hasn't been patched yet. One minute they're there and the next they're gone, like some horrifying magic trick, which is annoying in itself.

6 Koraidon Is Indivisible & Miraidon Makes Giants

Unique as Legendaries go, Koraidon and Miraidon act as the player's mounts and can be ridden across Paldea, using their abilities to run, swim, dash, and glide to aid travel. However, both Pokémon suffer from cosmetic glitches that are hard to miss.

Scarlet's legendary, Koraidon, often becomes invisible so that the player looks like they're on an invisible bike. Yet, not to be upstaged, Miraidon stretches the Violet player's model until they become a horrifying giant, terrorizing people and Pokémon alike.

5 A Fast Travel Cheat Has Already Been Discovered

Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Travel

Some players wished to travel around areas of the map quickly to catch or battle wild Pokémon, but the places they wish to go don't always have a Pokémon Center to travel to. So, players who don't have the ability to fly or high jump had to get creative when it came to traversing large gaps.

Because of this, it was quickly discovered that players can instantly traverse a gap if they throw their lead Pokémon across any crevice that has a wild Pokémon on the other side. This starts up a battle that drags the player over to the other side of the gap without any hard work or battling Titans to earn new traveling methods.

4 The Players' Pokémon Can Spawn In The Wrong Place

Since Generation One, battles have started in the same manner. The player hurls their Poké Ball onto the field where the Pokémon will stand in front of the player, acting as their champion. While this mechanic hasn't changed in Scarlet & Violet, there have been some problems with where the players' Pokémon spawns.

Some players have found a glitch where their Pokémon spawn underneath them instead of taking their place in front of them. Instead of being annoyed by this cosmetic glitch, most players find it hilarious and have gladly shared screenshots of their misfortune with others on the internet.

3 Some Players Made It To The Pokémon League Without A Single Badge

Pokemon League Scarlet And Violet

The Pokémon League is a staple of the Pokémon games, having been around since Generation One. The rules of the League are simple: all the player has to do is battle their way through the world's gyms, beating them to earn badges. Once the player has all the badges, they can battle the Elite Four in the Pokémon league to become a Pokémon Master.

Despite the clarity of these rules, some Scarlet & Violet players have found themselves in the Paldean Pokémon League building without having earned a single Paldean badge. This happened after the opening prologue during which a glitch where their character fell through the floor re-spawned them in the League building.

2 Players & Pokémon Can Fall Into The Abyss

Throughout the years of video game creation, one of the earliest glitches recorded was playable characters falling through the map and into the abyss below. Fortunately, thanks to advances in technology and regular play testing during production, this is no longer a commonly found glitch.

However, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet seem to suffer from this glitch, which has caught many players off guard. This has been deemed one of the worst problems that Scarlet & Violet suffer from, as the only way to fix it is with a hard restart that could lose the player valuable progress.

1 The Game Has Been Known To Crash

Nothing is more frustrating to a gamer than when the game that they have put so many hours into crashes. Game crashes threaten the loss of progress that forces the player to tediously re-do all the things they had previously completed. This is especially a problem when they have paid a hefty amount for a modern game that shouldn't experience this problem.

Unfortunately, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet are known to crash, quite regularly in some cases. This is a cause of great frustration as the only way to resolve the problem is for the player to perform a hard restart of the game.
