In the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, several abilities that fans view as overpowered may be getting a serious downgrade.According to Centro Leaks, several abilities in Scarlet and Violet considered by players to be overpowered "got nerfed hard." The only one confirmed to have been altered so far is the unique ability Intrepid Sword, usable exclusively by the legendary Pokémon Zacian. Intrepid Sword causes Zacian's attack to increase by one stage whenever it enters combat, essentially giving it a permanent buff to damage output. The way these abilities are going to be changed is unknown at this time, but the leak suggests some of them may gain the restriction of only being usable once per battle.RELATED: Massive Pokémon Hack Reveals Major Scarlet/Violet Roster Details

The aforementioned Zacian is not going to be included in the base game, but that opportunity may arise in the DLCs. Gym leaders in Scarlet and Violet will utilize the brand-new Terastallize mechanic. Each Pokémon in the Paldea region will have its own unique Tera Type, which can be brought out through Terastallizing in combat. Doing so changes the Pokémon's type into their Tera Type. These NPC Trainers will use this ability to change their Pokémon into the type appropriate to the gym, allowing them to start with Pokémon outside their gym's type.

The timeline for movement abilities in Scarlet and Violet was also teased. The ability to ride the signature ATV Pokémon Koraidon and Miraidon, as well as the use of jumping, will be unlocked two hours into the game. Until this point, the player will be put on a linear path, much like the early parts of other Pokémon games.

The ability for Koraidon and Miraidon to swim, fly and climb will be unlocked farther into the game. However, these legendary Pokémon will only become available for use in battle after finishing the game's story. When players do get to explore, the upcoming video game will allow them to wander the never-before-seen region of Paldea, filled with plenty of new Pokémon.

A previous leak suggested Scarlet and Violet will feature 105 new Pokémon. 16 of those will be the unique new set of Paradox Pokémon, five will be cross-gen evolutions and two are possibly being saved for DLC content. Paradox Pokémon is a group comprised of both ancient and future species of Pokémon, introduced to the franchise by Scarlet and Violet.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are set to release on Nov. 18 2022 on Nintendo Switch.
