The original film had scientists clone Mewtwo from an eyelash recovered from Mew, with the artificially created Pokemon using its psychic and telekinetic powers to escape from captivity and create its own army of cloned Pokemon. He was ultimately thwarted by the combined forces of Ash and his friends, along with the timely arrival of Mew itself. A North American release date for the upcoming film is currently unknown.

Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution will be released in Japan on July 12.
