The Pokémon series is one that's been all over the place. Toys, videogames, movies, name it and Pokémon has done it. However, the most popular thing relating to Pokémon is arguably the anime that so many kids have grown up with.

One of the best things about this children's anime is that it had true life lessons in each episode that made the series into somewhat of an edutainment type show. Some of these messages are things that every kid should carry with them for their entire life as many are even applicable today. This list will be looking at some of the best!

10 KEEP TRAINING

It says it even in the iconic opening theme song. "I wanna be the very best like no one ever was. To catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause." Pokémon is a series all about the grind and that means that there will be a lot of training involved. Training is, of course, the only way that Ash will ever become good enough to be the very best.

Pokémon teaches fans that the only way that you can truly be the best is to train your heart out. Nothing is given up easy so the only way to reach the final goal is to keep practicing no matter what.

9 NEVER GIVE UP

There is just about no anime protagonist that has taken as many giant losses as Ash Ketchum. In just about every Pokémon series he always makes it so far through the big tournaments featured in them all and guess what. He usually takes a big fat L when he's so close to a first-place finish. However, he never gives up.

Yup, no matter how many times he is knocked down Ash gets right back up. After taking so many L's in the series Pokémon Sun and Moon Ash finally reach his goal, showing that you'll never get anywhere if you give up.

8 AIM FOR THE TOP

One thing that Ash and his many friends never do is dream small. There's isn't one series where Ash says that he'd be satisfied anywhere but the top. He chases this dream of being the best and he's ready to constantly push any hardship out of his way to reach the top.

This is a message saying to never settle for less. If you dream of doing something big then go for the gold. There's no point in trying your best if you're going to go for the lesser option in the end. Be like Ash and aim for the top.

7 CHEATING LEADS TO LOSING

This is one message that the old Pokémon anime will be shoving into your head until the show ends 2000 years from now. If anyone hasn't noticed by now, the enemies of the show Team Rocket show up just about every episode and attempt to kidnap Pikachu. The thing is that these three never attempt to battle on even terms.

The members of Team Rocket feel much more at home looking for a cheating gimmick to shortcut their way to get where they want to be and always fail. This shows that cheating always leads to losing.

6 BE A FRIEND TO ALL

One of the things constantly seen throughout Pokémon is Ash regularly meeting and befriending more trainers, Pokémon, and others. These friendships usually have some hand in him advancing further in his journey and thus getting stronger as a result.

As seen in the series, friendship is one of the most important things in Ash's journey.

5 LOSING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN WINNING

Ash loses just as much as he wins, if not more. Anyone that thinks this is a bad thing doesn't know that the key to winning is losing. Losing presents one with the chance to analyze their loss and find out what mistakes they made during their tribulation.

This puts losing on a pedestal that's way above winning, which you learn nothing doing. You have to lose to win!

4 LEARNING IS USUALLY FOUND ON THE FIELD

Whereas many Pokémon are seen studying up in the Pokémon series it's evident that even more is learned during the actual journey on the battlefield as Ash is seen making it further than almost anyone else in the series.

Sometimes it's best to just jump headfirst onto the battlefield. You won't be able to learn everything through a book. On-site experience is a must on the road to success.

3 FRIENDSHIP IS EVERYTHING

As said earlier, friendship is one of the most important parts of Ash's journey due to how strong it makes him. This really shows just how important friendship is and how much better of a person it can make you if it's meaningful enough.

Without friendship Pokémon just isn't the same. That goes double for real life. Friendship is truly one of the most important things in life and Pokémon teaches that very early on.

2 SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE

Some of the saddest moments in any of the Pokémon series are whenever someone has to release one of their Pokémon for a good reason. Sometimes the little pocket monsters belong in the wild with more of their kind. This is one of the best things to show children as early as possible.

It is also the perfect message to let a kid with a pet see. This message is so powerful because it continues to be relevant throughout a human's entire life. You may not always want to say goodbye but sometimes you must.

1 BETTER TO WORK AS A TEAM THAN ALONE

Ash, Brock, Pikachu, and May in Pokémon.

Pokémon is a series almost entirely about teamwork. Throughout the series, we watch Ash not only try to find the perfect ways to work in tandem with his team of pocket monsters, but he tries to find the perfect balance during his journey with his human friends as well.

It's easy to see that each member of Ash's many squads all brings something different to the journey. While Ash may be the main character looking to be the best, he'd never be able to get anywhere all alone.
