Pokémon Legends: Arceus allows players to catch numerous Mythical and Legendary Pokémon in its post-game. For example, those who have save data for either Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl can complete a special research task that allows them to catch the Nightmare Pokémon Darkrai. Alternatively, those who continue into the post-game missions on their quest to catch the Alpha Pokémon itself will have opportunities to catch Legendary Pokémon like Cresselia and Heatran.

Players who have save files for Pokémon Sword or Shield can complete a special post-game research task that gives them a chance to catch the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin. As with Dialga and Palkia, Shaymin has two formes it can change between. Here's how to complete Shaymin's research task, catch the Gratitude Pokémon and switch between its Land and Sky Formes.

How To Catch Shaymin In Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon Legends: Arceus Shaymin roaming in a field of Gracidea flowers.

After reaching the post-game, players who have save data from Sword and Shield can pick up a special research task from Professor Laventon's task board in Galaxy Hall: Mission 92: A Token of Gratitude. Medi, a member of the Diamond Clan, wants the player to find the Pokémon that once helped her when she was lost in the Obsidian Fieldlands as a child so she can thank it.

Players will receive a Gracidea flower from Medi and are told to find the place in the Obsidian Fieldlands where the Gracidea flowers bloom. Go to the Floaro Gardens west of the Fieldlands Camp. The Gardens contain a patch of dead Gracidea flowers that will spring into bloom if players have this quest activated. Medi will thank Shaymin for its help, and the Gratitude Pokémon will appear.

Shaymin is not difficult to catch, but it is incredibly skittish. If the capture attempt fails, Shaymin will run away instead of engaging the player in a prolonged battle. If Shaymin runs, simply reload into the Obsidian Fieldlands to make Shaymin automatically reappear in the Gardens. Once caught, Shaymin joins the party at level 70 and is number 241 in the Hisui Pokédex.

How to Switch Between Shaymin's Land and Sky Formes

Pokémon Legends: Arceus Shaymin in Sky Forme.

Players can use the Gracidea flower Medi provided at the start of the quest to transform Shaymin from its usual Land Forme into its Sky Forme. While in Sky Forme, Shaymin becomes a Grass/Flying-type instead of just a Grass-type. To turn Shaymin back to its Land Forme, send it to the Pasture or wait until nighttime. At night, Shaymin will return to its Land Forme once it enters a Pokémon battle or if it's let outside of its Poké Ball.
