Pokémon Journeys: The Series has found its Sonia in Japanese voice actor Marina Inoue.

Per the official @anipoke_PR Twitter account, the character of Sonia is set to make her Pokémon Journeys debut in the anime's next episode (Episode 27), which airs in Japan one week from today on July 5. She will be voiced by Inoue, who is known for portraying such characters as Momo Yaoyorozu in My Hero Academia and Armin Arlert in Attack on Titan. She is also no stranger to Pokémon, having previously voiced the character of Elle (known as Aria in the English version).

The granddaughter and assistant of the Galar region's Professor Magnolia, Sonia is one of the newest characters to join the Pokémon universe, having made her official franchise debut in the 2019 video games Pokémon Sword and Shield. In addition to featuring in the Pokémon manga and trading card game, Journeys actually marks Sonia's second anime appearance, as the character previously popped up in an episode of the Pokémon: Twilight Wings miniseries, in which she was voiced by Lynn.

Pokémon Journeys premiered in Japan this past November, with new episodes arriving on a weekly basis. English versions of the first 12 episodes then dropped on Netflix all at once earlier this month on June 12. There 14 additional episodes have yet to be released in English, with Sonia's debut episode next week making it 15. It is currently unclear when the next batch of dubbed episodes will arrive on Netflix.
