Pokémon Home has finally extended its boxes to include Pokémon GO, meaning trainers from the mobile hunting game can finally transfer their mons to Home storage. The process is simple, but there are some restrictions.

To be able to transfer Pokémon from GO to Home, players will first need to have both apps on their phone. It's possible to use the free version of Home and players can move their Pokémon from GO to Sword and Shield, as well. Just make sure it's the right move, because once a Pokémon has been transferred from game to game, the switch can't be reversed.

Pokémon have to be registered in the player's Pokédex to be eligible to transfer and currently, only GO trainers at Level 21 or higher can transfer their mons.

Players who meet the requirements and can't wait to free up space in Pokémon GO to catch more need to go to the settings in GO. There, they should select the Pokémon Home option to login and then tap Send Pokémon. This will bring them to a mandatory tutorial that shows them how to use a new item called the GO Transporter.

The Transporter runs on energy and it uses a certain amount to transfer Pokémon depending on their rarity and strength. A big, high CP Dragonite will take more energy than a little Spearow, even a tough one. In addition, some special Pokémon -- like hat wearing Pikachus or costumed starters -- won't be transferable due to their uniqueness. The Transporter takes time to recharge, but players can spend PokéCoins to speed up the process.

Once the transfer goes through, players need to open Pokémon Home. If it's their first time in the app, they may have to complete a little setup tutorial. Once this is done, there will be a message asking if the player would like to receive Pokémon sent from GO. Tapping yes will begin the transfer and no will send them back to GO. Players get a confirmation when the transfer is successful and be able to view their Pokémon in Home. There are even ways to play with them there.

If the transfer isn't successful, there may be a connection problem, or boxes may already be full of Pokémon from other games and players will need to make space. However, once they're in Home, they'll be ready to transfer wherever, as long as they're in the right generation along with their moves.

As a welcome gift, trainers transferring Pokémon from GO to Home for the first time will receive a fancy new Melmetal through the Mystery Gift function in Pokémon Home. This Melmetal is unique and can Gigantamax in Sword and Shield. It's not just handed over, though. Trainers will receive a Mystery Box making only a Meltan appear in Pokémon GO for a time. If players don't catch it on the first try, they can try again after a waiting period. It can then be transferred to Home and from there to Sword or Shield to crush the competition.
