The Intertwining Pokémon has been brought to life by a creative and colorful cosplay.

Pictures of the Sylveon cosplay were posted on Reddit by user Shiri. The costume features a soft, pastel color scheme that emphasizes pale pink and blue as well as many, many ribbons. To further evoke the Pokémon's Fairy typing, the cosplayer added several flowers to their hair.

The long-running and massive Pokémon franchise began in 1996 with the launch of the original games, Pocket Monsters: Red and Green (released in North America as Pokémon Red and Blue). Since then, over 120 games have been released and the franchise has expanded to include other media types like anime, film, music and a competitive trading card game. Pokémon has also inspired a wealth of fan-made content; beyond Shiri's Sylveon cosplay, recent examples include a piece of a nightmare-inducing painting of the Ghost-type Pokémon Haunter and giant origami sculptures of Togepi, Vileplume and Lotad.

A New Era of Pokémon

There have been other new developments for the Pokémon franchise than just the creation of fan-made content. The latest video games, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, dropped on Nov. 18. The titles introduce players to a brand-new Spain-inspired region and a plethora of new pocket monsters to collect and battle. Multiple information leaks of the Pokédex occurred before the games' debuts, providing insight into everything from the Scarlet and Violet's starters' evolutions to new evolutions for classic Pokémon.

Moreover, in the latest episodes of the anime Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series, Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu finally won an actual championship by defeating all other trainers in the World Coronation Series. During the final battle with Leon, longtime fans and new viewers were treated to cameos from several of Ash's beloved Pokémon who hadn't appeared in the story in a very long time, including his Butterfree and Squirtle from the original anime.

With Ash having been crowned Monarch and considered the strongest trainer in the entire world of Pokémon, many have begun to wonder what the future holds in store for the perpetual 10-year-old. While some posit Pokémon Ultimate Journeys is his and Pikachu's swan song, others argue that he hasn't actually achieved his dream of Pokémon Master.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are playable exclusively on the Nintendo Switch. Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series is available on Netflix.
