The Pokémon franchise is showing its support for Black Lives Matter by donating $100,000 to the organization as well as $100,000 to the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People).

A statement was recently shared on the official Pokémon Twitter page that began with, "Here at The Pokémon Company International, we believe in friendship, inclusivity, and equity. These are the values that anchor the Pokémon brand. There is no place for oppression within our community."

The statement went on to say that Pokémon supports all Black employees as well as anyone else who has experienced racism and violence. In the end, they added, "We believe that Black Lives Matter."

Over the last few days, a number of Black Lives Matter protests have been held around the world in response to the killing of George Floyd by police. The protests have seen vocal support from several celebrities, including Star Wars' John Boyega, having attended and/or spoken at these protests.

In addition to Pokémon, several more companies, including video game giant Square Enix, have donated funds to Black Lives Matter and other anti-racism organizations. Meanwhile, legendary comic book writer Gail Simone has called upon other writers to help fund Black Lives Matter by auctioning off memorabilia.
