Pokémon's 25th anniversary has featured a surprising amount of celebrity involvement. Katy Perry has already announced a collaboration with the Nintendo series for an upcoming performance, even saying that she's been a life-long Pokémon fan. However, Katy Perry isn't the only celebrity musician who's involved with the series.

On February 27th, fans will be able to watch a virtual performance by Post Malone as part of a special collaboration with The Pokémon Company on Pokémon Day.  The virtual performance was announced via a trailer showcasing Malone's Pokémon-styled digital avatar.  There are even a few additional events happening around the performance, including a special Pokémon, an event in Pokémon Go and more that are currently unannounced.

Malone's digital concert will stream on Saturday, February 27th at 7:00 PM EST. Fans who want to tune into the virtual performance can do so by visiting The Pokémon Company's official Twitch and YouTube accounts. The performance will also be streamed on the official 25th-anniversary website, giving fans multiple ways to watch. Digital performances have seen a fairly significant rise in popularity during the global pandemic, with Fortnite hosting a few popular performers.

Post Malone will be performing through a digitized version of himself, the design of which seems to be heavily inspired by the art style of the recent 3D Pokémon titles. This performance is meant to both celebrate 25 years of the Pokémon franchise but also to launch The Pokémon Company's new P25 music program, which aims to partner with popular artists to create music "through the lens of Pokémon."

This implies that Post Malone may be performing some original Pokémon-inspired songs on the 27th. This also gives fans a little more insight into Katy Perry's announced involvement with the series, which was previously only known to involve a musical performance. Pokémon's 25th-anniversary has certainly shaped up to be much more than what fans were expecting, with the Pokémon Company focusing on some fairly creative ways to celebrate the series.

There are also a few smaller events surrounding the musical performance. Pokémon Sword and Shield owners can claim a special Pikachu on February 25th through the use of a special password. Keeping to the theme of music that the 25th-anniversary has been following, this Pikachu will know Sing, which is a move that the Pokémon can't usually learn. The only other time a Pikachu with Sing could be obtained was the special event Singing Pikachu in Generation V.

On February 20th, players of Pokémon Go can log in for a special Kanto-themed event. The Tour: Kanto event requires players to purchase an $11.99 pass that'll allow them to specifically access the first 150 Pokémon. The Pokémon Go event seems to be less connected to the rest of the music-themed events this month, though it's still worth mentioning for Pokémon Go fans.

The Pokémon Company has also revealed that fans should expect more events to be announced before Post Malone's digital concert, though there weren't any more details given as of this writing. It seems as though Pokémon's 25th-anniversary is shaping up to be heavily themed around music. However, The Pokémon Company has also reassured players that each region will be highlighted and celebrated throughout the year.
