Bryson Kliemann, an eight-year-old boy from Lebanon, Virginia, got the attention of The Pokémon Company when his selfless act raised the money his family needed to save their puppy, Bruce. Kliemann sold the Pokémon cards that he loved, but he now has some special rare cards to replace them, sent to him from Pokémon employees in Bellevue, Washington.

Kliemann's mother, Kimberly Woodruff, took Bruce to the vet when Kliemann noticed he appeared sick, according to local news WSLS. The pup was diagnosed with Parvo, a serious canine disease, and the cost for his treatment would be nearly $700. Knowing that his family couldn't afford the bill, Kliemann took it upon himself to sell his Pokémon cards to help pay for it.

Woodruff later made a GoFundMe, sharing the story of her son and his furry companion. "I know I have been raising him right," she wrote. "With a heart of gold because hes so worried about our bruce he is beside the road trying to sell his favorite thing in the world just to make his puppy better."

After word got out about Kliemann's determination to save his puppy, he received a package full of rare Pokémon cards, straight from the source. A letter of appreciation included read, "Hey Bryson, we were so inspired by your story about selling your cards for your dog’s recovery, these are some cards to help you replace the ones you had to sell."

Donations made through the GoFundMe raised over $5000, and the excess from the goal of $800 will be going toward medical expenses for other local pets. Bruce has recovered and is now reunited with Kliemann and his family.
