Ash was a brave trainer throughout Pokémon, but his companions were just as courageous. Lillie started out as being timid, but grew braver as the series progressed. Misty and Kiawe were brave from the beginning and willingly sprung into action as needed.

No matter what treacherous situations these characters found themselves in, they did their best to face their fears. Whether they faced Team Rocket, ruthless villains, or bad trainers, Ash's companions did not hesitate to face them head-on.

10 Lillie Went From Timid To Brave

Lillie's initial fear of Pokémon made her apprehensive. Her fears prevented her from touching them, her Alolan Vulpix Snowy was the only exception. She later overcame her fears and bravely accompanied Ash to rescue her mother from Nihilego. She later joined her brother Gladion and mother Lusamine on a quest to find her father Mohn.

9 Clemont Used His Inventions To Help People And Pokémon

Though Clemont's inventions often broke or failed, Clemont never stopped wanting to help people and Pokémon. Even when his machines didn't operate as planned, they still benefited others, including Ash. One of his machines, the Clembot did most of the Pokémon battling for him at the Lumiose City Gym, allowing him to work on his inventions. Though out of all of Ash's companions Clemont wasn't the strongest trainer, his desire to invent machines to help humans and Pokémon further co-exist was a noble goal.

8 Iris Was Quick To Right Any Wrongs

Iris was often quick to right the wrongs she witnessed, going so far as to confront a Drilbur that stole a Patrat's food. She also set out to become a Dragon Master by training Axew to evolve into Haxorus. Despite some noteworthy losses, Iris never gave up on trying to better herself.

Journeys revealed Iris still hasn't achieved her goal of becoming a Dragon Master, but she is strong enough to be reigning Champion of Unova.

7 Cilan Did His Best To Face His Fears With Enthusiasm

Despite Cilan's fears of the paranormal and the cat-like Pokémon Purrloin, he always tried to face any obstacles with enthusiasm and determination. He used his passion for sleuthing to play detective when the situation called for it. His skills as a Pokémon Connoisseur helped him read people and Pokémon. Cilan found the best ways to approach and help them. This came in handy when helping Ash and Iris take care of their Pokémon, as well as grow in their respective journeys.

6 Kiawe Fought Team Skull And Viren

Kiawe was one of the most experienced trainers in Alola. As a skilled trainer, he and Turtonator worked together well to stop Team Skull during his debut episode. Kiawe's wildly competitive nature helped him dive head-first into any challenge presented to him. He stood up against Viren, who sought to buy out the Paniola Ranch and helped rescue Lillie's mother Lusamine.

5 Misty Sprung Into Action And Saved A Port From Tentacool And Tentacruel

Misty could be hot-headed, but she was one the first to jump into action when bad guys like Team Rocket showed up.

Bug-type Pokémon are Misty's only fear. She's passionate about defending Water-type Pokémon and her hyperactive personality causes her to fight for justice. She saved Togepi from Team Rocket, and convinced a group of Tentacool and Tentacruel to stop attacking a port.

4 Brock Was A Great Mediator And Stood Up To Bad Trainers

While Brock is known for his constant pursuit of beautiful women, he was a sound mentor and close friend to Ash at the start of his journey. Before becoming a doctor, Brock was an excellent Gym Leader and Breeder. He used his expertise to take care of Pokémon in need. Additionally, he acted as a mediator between feuding trainers, especially Ash and his rivals. Brock willingly stoop up to malicious trainers. He notably confronted Damian when he abandoned his Charmander in the cold rain.

3 Tracey Sketchit Willingly Befriended An Exiled Scyther

As a Pokémon Watcher, Tracey often risked his life while observing them in their natural habitat. He would change his breathing habits to match the Pokémon he examined to avoid detection. Tracey went out of his way to save Pokémon, even if it meant endangering his own life. In one instance, Tracey willingly caught a Scyther in order to bring it to a Pokémon Center for treatment.

Initially, Scyther held animosity towards Tracey for helping him. Before being caught, the Scyther lost its swarm leadership position from a younger Scyther. Scyther eventually bonded with Tracey and the two of them became official partners after working together to stop Team Rocket from stealing all the other Scyther.

2 Dawn's Hopefulness Turned Into Bravery

Dawn's "No need to worry!" catchphrase carried into her actions. She was the most hopeful of Ash's companions and was determined to become a great Pokémon Coordinator. While Dawn's few losses brought about feelings of self-doubt, she quickly recovered and made it to the Sinnoh Grand Festival finals. Dawn's self discovery and courage prompted her to stand up to Ash's rival Paul whenever he abused other Pokémon or trainers.

1 Goh Helped Ash Stop Eternatus

Goh aspired to catch every Pokémon in the world and rarely backed down from a challenge. He joined Ash in a fight against Mewtwo, and stood bravely after their loss. Goh also helped Ash and Leon stop Eternatus from destroying all of Galar. He fought and defeated Oleana's Milotic with only Scorbunny. This battle caused Scorbunny to evolve into Raboot. Goh is incredibly brave and has fought against villainous teams including Team Rocket.
