Poison Ivy is one of the most well-known and iconic Batman villains in DC Comics. A former botanist who gains toxic powers after being injected with various poisons, Dr. Pamela Isley has been a villain throughout most of her comic book history but, like her partner Harley Quinn, she has dabbled in heroism.

Ivy has shown that, despite her villainous ways, she does have a heart. Batman remarked that she is more human than plant, though she has still done terrible things in her past. Here are ten of the worst.

10 Controlling Superman

Poison Ivy's powers vary throughout her different comic book appearances. Some of them include her poison kiss and the ability to seduce and control men. In Batman: Hush, Ivy's powers are so great that she can control even Superman, bending the Man of Steel to her will.

Ivy's misanthropy is one of her defining traits, and this dislike extends to the last son of Krypton, who fights for humanity. Superman eventually breaks free of Ivy's control, though not before she demonstrates a formidable depth to her powers.

9 Threatening To Destroy Gotham

Ivy's character was revamped post-Crisis, and she returned with a new origin story and villainous motives. Dr. Pamela Isley is experimented on by her college professor, Dr. Jason Woodrue, who becomes the Floronic Man. She transforms into Poison Ivy after being injected with toxins, and eventually goes to Gotham and crosses the Dark Knight's path.

When Ivy first arrives in Gotham, she threatens to flood the city with poisonous gas unless the residents give her what they want. Batman defeats her and she is sent to Arkham for the first time, developing an obsession for Batman and his resistance to her abilities.

8 Forming A Supervillain Group With Harley Quinn And Catwoman

Poison Ivy has teamed up with various groups. One of her most popular team-ups is with fellow Gotham villainesses, Harley Quinn and Catwoman. The trio united in Gotham City Sirens after Ivy rescued Catwoman from Boneblaster, and Harley leaves the Joker.

The Sirens were all about "positive female reinforcement" but were also dangerous and threatening forces to be reckoned with. Ivy reveals to her new teammates that she has been holding the Riddler hostage using mind control so she and Harley can use his house as a hide-out, highlighting her ruthlessness.

7 Killing Clayface

Although Poison Ivy has done some terrible things, she often does them for the right reasons. Ivy, like Harley Quinn and Catwoman, has flitted between being an outright villain and sympathetic anti-heroine throughout her comic book history. She has demonstrated compassion but she has also displayed cruelty.

Ivy adopts a group of orphans and shelters them in Robinson Park. After Clayface attacks and imprisons them all, Ivy teams up with Batman and kills Clayface with her toxic kiss.

6 Leaving Catwoman To Die

Poison Ivy may have fought alongside Catwoman throughout her comic book history but she has also faced off against the famed cat burglar. After she is manipulated by the Riddler and Hush, Ivy uses her hypnosis on Catwoman and Superman, forcing Selina to steal ransom money from Killer Croc. The plan fails when Batman intervenes and Ivy abandons Catwoman with Croc to die.

This demonstrates the extremes that Ivy frequently flits between. She shows compassion by adopting orphaned children, but she is also incredibly ruthless and looks out for herself first.

5 Humiliating The Riddler

Ivy gets her revenge on the Riddler after he approaches her and asks her for protection from Hush. They fight in an intense physical and mental battle which ends with Ivy besting her opponent. Ivy physically overpowers him which humiliates the Riddler and temporarily crushes his spirit.

This displays Poison Ivy's unforgiving ways as well as her prowess as a fighter. Ivy shows the Riddler little mercy and fully avenges his manipulation of her. It is also a reminder of how dangerous Ivy can be as a physical threat in addition to her poisonous powers.

4 Killing Police Officers

This is another example of Poison Ivy doing the wrong thing for the right reasons. Ivy seemingly perishes in Batman: Gotham Knights only to mysteriously reappear briefly in Robinson Park. There, she kills two corrupt police officers who allegedly murdered one of the orphans she adopted.

This is an example of Poison Ivy's caring nature and her most ruthless instincts. She takes the lives of two people, something Batman would never do, but also avenges the death of an innocent person by killing two corrupt law officials.

3 Trying To Kill Damian Wayne

During Battle For The Cowl, Poison Ivy teams up with Killer Croc and various other supervillains in Gotham after being persuaded by the new Black Mask. The group plot to take over the city and one of their plans includes Ivy and Croc attempting to kill Damian Wayne.

Poison Ivy and Killer Croc fail, though they wreak plenty of chaos throughout the series, including destroying one of Penguin's warehouses. Damian soon reunites with Nightwing and the other former Robins.

2 Nearly Killing The Pied Piper And The Trickster

Ivy's dislike of humanity causes her to withdraw from society and isolate herself. She does not take kindly to people disrupting this isolation, as she demonstrates in Countdown #37. After the Pied Piper and the Trickster hide out in one of her greenhouses, Ivy captures the pair and ties them up with vines, intending to kill them.

Ivy loathes humans intruding upon her plant-filled sanctuary, and Pied Piper and Trickster almost bear the brunt of her wrath for this. It is later revealed that Ivy has joined the Injustice League Unlimited, adding another team-up to her repertoire.

1 Feeding People To Plants

Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy has shown that when it comes to people or plants, she chooses plants every time. The former botanist regards herself as the right-hand woman of Mother Nature and despises humanity for harming the earth. Ivy's powers are shown to have increased exponentially in One Year Later, and she is also seen feeding people she dislikes to giant carnivorous plants.

Batman returns after to Gotham and finds Ivy feeding various men to the dangerous plants in her garden. She expresses little remorse, regarding it as a "guilty pleasure."
