As one of the most powerful villains in Gotham City, Poison Ivy has wreaked a lot of havoc throughout her time as a character. As she has grown, however, she has become far more powerful than she was when she first started out.

Nowadays, Ivy has effectively been shown to be immortal even. With so much power at her disposal though, one can’t help but wonder how she would fare within the Marvel universe. Considering how the workings of her powers are specific to sciences established solely in the DC universe, Ivy would definitely have an interesting time within the Marvel universe. Looking at how her powers would affect some of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, here is our list of 5 Marvel heroes Ivy would be able to beat, and 5 who would still be able to beat her.

10 Captain America (Can Defeat)

Since being biogenetically enhanced during WWII, Steve Rogers has been one of the greatest and bravest heroes the Marvel universe has ever known. Unfortunately, even with his enhanced abilities, he wouldn’t be able to achieve victory over someone like Poison Ivy.

Assuming the Marvel universe has a Green of its own that poison Ivy can tap into, she is just far too powerful for someone like Cap to defeat on his own. Though he may be able to avoid her and her plants for a surprising amount of time, Cap and his shield can only do so much against an army of plants completely under the control of one person.

9 Groot (Would Lose To)

Though he may appear otherwise, Groot isn’t actually a tree, but rather just resembles one. Because of this, Ivy would likely have little to no effect on groot from an internal standpoint, meaning that she would not be able to use her powers to alter him in any way.

Since Groot also has a way with plant life, it is very clear that his powers work differently from Ivy’s and are not limited to The Green of any one particular planet. Though the actual science could not accurately be proven, Groot could theoretically throw all of Ivy’s attacks back at her, making him the much more likely victor between the two characters.

8 Daredevil (Can Defeat)

Similarly to Captain America, Poison Ivy is just too powerful for someone like Daredevil to defeat. Though he might actually be able to evade Ivy even better than Cap could, Daredevil’s only chance at victory would be to keep his distance.

Furthermore, Ivy is also known for her toxins, and would easily be able to influence Daredevil by means of ingestion. Though he would likely sense the chemicals around him, he would still need to ingest them in order to detect them in the first place, making him incredibly vulnerable to several of Ivy’s attacks.

7 Sentry (Would Lose To)

Marvel’s Sentry is often said to be more powerful than the Man of Steel himself. With so many powers at his disposal, the really isn’t a limit to what Sentry can accomplish. Because of that, it is hard to imagine any way in which Poison Ivy could possibly beat him.

Between his heightened senses and strength alone, plant life would have virtually no effect on someone like Sentry. Even if Ivy used chemicals to attack him, he could easily just hold his breath, or they would hardly do anything to him to begin with. Despite how powerful Ivy herself can be, Sentry is one hero that she simply can’t beat.

6 Spider-Man (Can Defeat)

When there are plants in the world that actually eat bugs, it is very easy to believe that Poison Ivy would also be able to squash Spider-Man. Despite being related to arachnids, Ivy is still likely to gain the upper hand in a confrontation with Marvel’s wall-crawler.

In the past, Spider-Man has been shown to be vulnerable to all sorts of toxins, as well as fiery red-heads. Furthermore, while his Spider-Sense would certainly come in handy against Poison Ivy, her ability to communicate with plants would constantly make her aware of his presence, making it really hard to see how Spidey could get close enough to take her down.

5 Hulk (Would Lose To)

While her own ties to The Green may be strong, the Hulk is stronger than almost anything else imaginable. At one point, Bruce Banner was so angry and so powerful, that he completely leveled nearly all of Manhattan with a single step.

Though Ivy might be able to gain the upper hand when Hulk isn’t so mad, he would eventually work up to the point where Ivy just wouldn’t be able to contain him. No matter how strong her plants can get, Hulk can only grow stronger the longer a fight goes on, making him the definite winner between the two of them.

4 Black Widow (Can Defeat)

Unfortunately, Black Widow doesn’t have any superhuman abilities in order to help her take down Poison Ivy. Granted, while Batman alone has managed to best the villain for years, it is really difficult to imagine Natasha doing the same.

Despite being far more lethal than the Dark Knight, Black Widow doesn’t exactly have the same kinds of gadgets and equipment at her disposal. Furthermore, while Natasha has an incredibly brilliant tactical mind, she isn’t exactly known for being a chemist, giving Ivy a huge advantage in battle. While she may be able to hold her own for a bit, it is really hard to see any way in which Black Widow actually beats Poison Ivy.

3 Black Panther (Would Lose To)

Thanks to the highly advanced Wakandan technology that T’Challa regularly wears, his chances of beating Poison Ivy are a bit higher than some may realize. Combined with his incredible acrobatic skills, Black Panther would easily be able to avoid most of the plants that Ivy would attack with.

Even if she managed to get lucky or resort to using chemicals, the Black Panther suit would likely have something that would be able to gain T’Challa the upper hand once again. Considering how often Batman has been victorious doing something similar, it is very easy to believe that Black Panther would be able to do the same.

2 Iron Fist (Can Defeat)

As one of the best hand to hand fighters in the entire Marvel universe, Iron Fist would still struggle against Poison Ivy. Even with his incredible fighting speeds, fighting enlarged plants is drastically different from fighting people. Of course, Danny Rand is also very susceptible to chemical exposure, giving Ivy a significant advantage.

While his chi would certainly come in handy, all Ivy really needs to do to achieve victory is limit Rand’s movement as much as possible. Once that is accomplished, victory would naturally fall into place, making her the victor once again.

1 Jean Grey (Would Lose To)

Even without the Phoenix Force at her disposal, Jean Grey would prove to be a very different opponent for Poison Ivy. As one of the most powerful telepaths in the entire Marvel universe, all Jean would really need is one really strong psychic blow to Ivy to put a swift end to her.

Depending on the situation, it is very possible that Ivy wouldn’t even be able to get close to Jean. Even if Ivy tried to mind control the mutant, Jean’s own mind is so strong that it would likely have little to no effect. With Jean being powerful enough to take down Ivy from a normal standpoint, one can only imagine what she would do with the Phoenix Force at her side.
