Once again, the time has come for PlayStation's annual Spring Sale. Showcasing a bevy of unusually large discounts, the sale is an excellent opportunity for stocking up on games for summer or an indoor Spring Break. From AAA role-playing titles that show off just what the PlayStation is capable of to turn-based games that simply fill out the corners of gamers' libraries in brilliant fashion, the Spring Sale offers many options for the Sony faithful.

These five games represent both the crown jewels of the PlayStation 4 and the first greats of the PlayStation 5 system itself. The variety of deals available is also practically unparalleled, save for Steam's incredible sales. With Sony's cross-buy deals going strong and steep discounts to boot, this Spring Sale may very well be PlayStation's best yet.

Ghost Of Tsushima: Director's Cut ($49.69, 29% Off)

One of the first games for the PS5 and hailed as the epitome of what was possible on the PS4, Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut is on sale for 29-33% off, depending upon the version. A cinematic masterpiece masquerading as an action/adventure game, Sucker Punch's samurai game takes little time to complete, yet features dozens of hours of additional content. The original game inspired a movie adaptation that stands in dubious development as well as a rumored in-development sequel for which it would be worth prepping. The Director's Cut features a massive set of improvements on the original, and investing in the dual pack allows for gamers playing the PS4 version to upgrade when the time comes.

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (29.99, 40% Off)

Peter Parker and Miles Morales in Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Already a low-priced, relatively bite-sized adventure, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an offshoot of the critically acclaimed and genre-defying Marvel's Spider-Man by Sony, originally for the PS4. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales features a brilliant follow-up to the game and allows for PS4 and PS5 players alike to explore everything of which the consoles are capable. Once again, buying one gets both copies, meaning that a good deal gets even better with $20 or 40% off. With a story that boasts two Spider-Men, one established and one coming into his own, the story is an accomplishment in terms of both the game and the Spider-Man mythos itself.

XCOM 2 Collection ($6.99, 93% Off)

XCOM Ranger Sectopod Action

The single largest discount on the list, at 93% below price point, is boasted by none other than the XCOM 2 Collection. This turn-based strategy game from 2K is widely considered the best in the series. Its unique take places the gamer in control of a small army of rebels fighting against alien overlords. With this version offering all available DLC for the game, including the brilliant War of the Chosen expansion, grabbing it any mark-down is a serious steal, but especially so when the complete version is available for just under $7. However, if the $7 full version feels a bit too expensive, the basic version is also on sale for under $3.

Batman: Arkham Collection ($8.99, 85% Off)

Batman fighting enemy grunts in Batman Arkham City

One of the game series that helped to define the modern open-world concept, the Batman: Arkham franchise still stands leagues ahead of many similar titles, and its crown jewel, Batman: Arkham City, is both expansive and complex. Containing the three games in the Rocksteady trilogy, plus all post-release content, this collection is well worth the $9 at a steep 85% discount. Grabbing this classic series while it is this inexpensive makes for a brilliant addition to any gamer's library.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: Game Of The Year Edition ($29.99, 50% Off)

Wolf vs True Corrupted Monk from Sekiro Shadows Die Twice

As brilliant and bloody as any contender on this list, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice: Game of the Year Edition features FromSoftware's famously difficult fights set against the backdrop of 1500s Sengoku Japan. Basically a beautiful but brutal interactive painting, Shadows Die Twice serves as a precursor to Elden Ring's gameplay, though this game is hardly a prototype. The Game of the Year Edition features a set of new challenge modes and a plethora of intense new features, as well as good, old-fashioned cosmetic upgrades. Heavily awarded, this game is well worth the investment at half price, and rounds out any gaming library fantastically.

With so many award-winning classics available in this year's PlayStation Store Spring Sale, gamers the world around will no doubt be dropping cash on many of the titles available. These thousands of hours of content, thankfully, are coming at a steep discount this season. The price of one game at regular price could garner over half of the best games this season. Given this, gamers will likely have plenty to occupy their time this spring.
