A recently discovered exploit is allowing gamers to grab around six years of PlayStation Plus Premium for half the normal price.
As reported by IGN, PlayStation users who want to cash in on this deal will need to log in to their PlayStation Network account through a web browser. From here, players will need to add some funds to their PSN wallet and then PlayStation Now through this link. In doing so, gamers will automatically be signed up for recurring billing, which will ultimately come to $120. Since PS Now subscriptions can be stacked, users should be able to buy multiple years' worth of PlayStation Now which will then convert over to PS Plus Premium when the service launches in June.
It's worth noting that due to the apparent exploitative nature of this method, Sony could eventually patch the loophole to prevent users from taking advantage of it. While it's currently unknown whether the publisher is actively working on patching the exploit, it's recommended that gamers wanting to access PlayStation Plus Premium at this discounted price act fast.
Sony recently announced that it was completely revamping its PS Plus subscription service, breaking the model up into three unique tiers that come with exponential rewards. The cheapest version is PlayStation Plus Essential and will include everything in the current version of PlayStation Plus for $9.99 a month. Just above this is PlayStation Plus Extra which features everything in the first tier as well as access to a library of 400 PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games for $14.99. At $17.99, the most expensive version of the new service is called PlayStation Plus Premium and bundles together everything from the first two tiers while also providing users with a catalog of 340 PlayStation One, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable games. While some of these can be downloaded, the PS3 games are only playable through the cloud.
"The new Extra and Premium tiers represent a major evolution for PlayStation Plus," writes Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. "With these tiers, our key focus is to ensure that the hundreds of games we offer will include the best quality content that sets us apart. At launch, we plan to include titles such as Death Stranding, God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Mortal Kombat 11, and Returnal.
PlayStation's reworked subscription system is expected to launch in June.
