In September 2021, Sony announced the long-rumored acquisition of Bluepoint Games. Bluepoint has established a well-regarded reputation for their remastering works in the collections such as God of War Collection, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, and the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection. Since then, Bluepoint has shifted focus to creating full remakes of games with their first two being Shadow of the Colossus and the PlayStation 5 launch title Demon's Souls.

Even though Bluepoint's next game is currently set to be an original title, it's possible that the developer will eventually return to Sony's catalog of exclusive franchises to create another stellar remake in a classic franchise.

10 Bluepoint Could Bring The Missing Uncharted Game To The PlayStation 5

Uncharted Golden Abyss Drake Gun

The Uncharted series has long produced critically acclaimed games throughout its history. One title that is often overlooked was its underrated PlayStation Vita spinoff Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Golden Abyss serves as a prequel to the original game and tells the story of one of Nathan Drake's earliest adventures.

Golden Abyss remains the only canonical Uncharted to not receive a remaster. Bluepoint could rectify this by remaking the game from the ground up. Bluepoint can give players an excuse to play as Nathan Drake once again without undoing the ending of Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. All the while doing away with the Vita-centric mechanics that would make the game difficult to remaster for consoles.

9 A New Jak & Daxter Could Honor Their Precursors' Legacy

Before Naughty Dog shifted to cinematic-like narratives, they developed the fan-favorite series Jax & Daxter. The series kicked off a run of Sony platformers that included Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper. While the Ratchet & Clank is still going strong and even received a remake of its own in 2016, the Jak & Daxter series remains dormant.

Fans have long requested Naughty Dog and Sony to revisit the Jak & Daxter series. The original game receiving a remake would be the perfect way to go about that. The original game was widely praised for its seamless open areas, with minimal loading. It's exciting to think about how Bluepoint could potentially build on that with the PlayStation 5's hardware.

8 It's Time To Revisit Sly Cooper

Sly Cooper sneaking

Sucker Punch Productions has built up a long legacy of memorable titles. Even recently with its widely popular Ghost of Tsushima. The developer originally made a name for itself with its colorful, cartoony, Sly Cooper series. Sucker Punch Productions made three games in the thieving raccoon series before moving on to Infamous. Sanzaru Games would go on to make Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time in 2013 before the series went dormant once again.

Bluepoint could revive the Sly Cooper series by taking the original game and reworking it to fit the format of its follow-ups where players take on smaller missions to set up larger heists. On top of that, having sections as large as Thieves in Time could bring out a lot more of the Fiendish Five's personalities and make them more memorable than they already were. With the recent entry dabbling into time travel, a remake could add story elements that could bring closure to Thieves in Time's cliffhanger ending by making the game act as a pseudo-sequel.

7 Bluepoint Shouldn't Resist The Temptation To Remake Resistance

Chimera in Resistance

The Resistance series launched alongside the PlayStation 3 with Resistance: Fall of Man in 2006. The classic alternate World War II-era first-person shooter series would spawn two sequels and two handheld spinoffs before going dormant.

Even though the story of Resistance ended with Resistance 3, a remake could be a great opportunity to revisit this alternate world. Bluepoint could further explore the lore of Resistance while also introducing more of the series' iconic alien weapons. This could very well test the waters for a potential reboot or more remakes of the latter games.

6 Ape Escape Would Be More Fun Than A Barrel Of Monkeys

Monkeys on a banana

A series that centers around going through time and capturing monkeys might not be the first one that comes to mind when thinking about potential Bluepoint remakes, but Ape Escape could be a great change of pace for Bluepoint and Sony. Originally debuting in 1999, the Ape Escape series has been largely dormant outside of cameo appearances in other Sony titles.

Bluepoint could draw a lot from Super Mario Odyssey in how it would design such a remake. Large worlds with many things to do, many goals to pursue, and many monkeys to catch. Bluepoint could also take full advantage of the DualSense controller much like how the original game did with the DualShock.

5 Killing Ares Once Isn't Good Enough For Kratos

Ares in God of War

Bluepoint began the remastered collection trend when they released the God of War Collection in 2009. With God of War: Ragnarok leading to the end of the Norse saga of Kratos' journey, Bluepoint could take this opportunity to revisit Kratos' time in Greece.

The latest God of War took the series in a bold direction by focusing on a much more grounded and reserved Kratos while revamping the game's combat and design. Those changes were well-received and could make for an interesting take on the original story if Bluepoint ever chooses to go in that direction.

4 Bluepoint Can Take On Killzone While Guerrilla Games Looks To New Horizons

First-person shooting in Killzone

The Killzone series was introduced in 2004 as Sony's "Halo killer," but was never able to live up to that moniker. Guerrilla Games' first-person shooter series went on to release numerous critically acclaimed and profitable games, but Guerrilla Games has since moved on to the Horizon series.

With the future of the series a mystery, Bluepoint could take on the Killzone series by remaking the original game. Through the advancements made in the series and genre, Bluepoint could reintroduce the series without the weight of its "Halo killer" expectations and give the series a fresh start.

3 Bluepoint Can Shock Players With The Return Of Infamous

When Sucker Punch Productions finished Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves in 2005, they began to shift their attention to the superhero genre. In 2009, they release the first game in the Infamous series. After two follow-up titles, Sucker Punch Productions put the series on the backburner in favor of Ghost of Tsushima. None of the Infamous games have been remastered since.

In this newfound era of superhero media, whether it's in film with the Marvel Cinematic Universe or in gaming with Insomniac Games' Marvel's Spider-Man series, the Infamous series is primed for a return. A remake of the original game could recapture the spark players had with the series and set Infamous up for a long-awaited sequel.

2 Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale Deserves A Second Chance

For a game that was mocked for being a Super Smash Bros. clone prior to release before ultimately being criticized for not being enough like the Nintendo brawler, it's easy to feel like PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was never given a fair chance. Released in 2012, Sony's attempt at a character brawler was overall received well but underwhelmed in the sales department.

A direct sequel may be a tough sell, but a remake of the original could go a long way to making it an easier one. Bluepoint could fix some of the biggest criticisms of the game, such as its approach to eliminating opponents, all while improving netplay, and introducing new fighters while updating the looks of established ones. Bluepoint is already familiar with PlayStation All-Stars as they handled the Vita port of the game.

1 Bluepoint And Heavenly Sword Is A Match Made In Heaven

Nariko fighting an enemy.

The long-forgotten Heavenly Sword dazzled players when it was released for the PlayStation 3 in 2007. The hack-and-slash title, made by Ninja Theory, had immense potential but has sadly yet to receive a follow-up. The series lead, Nariko, did make a playable appearance in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Sony did also release an animated movie adaptation in 2014. However, the series has been largely dormant and has yet to even receive a remaster.

It's tough to find a more perfect game for Bluepoint to remake than this one. A remake would be a great way to reintroduce Nariko to players everywhere while taking cues from more recent games in the God of War, Devil May Cry, and Bayonetta series. It's long past time to revisit this hidden gem.
