If there is one lesson to learn from the game industry and exclusives, it is to never say never. Many franchises once so closely associated with Sony have since become multiplatform series. However, a few intellectual properties are firmly set to stay on Sony's platforms for many years to come.

Microsoft plans to release nearly all their properties on PC in addition to Xbox, but the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 have games that may never go to PC anytime soon. With this strategy, many Sony fans must purchase a PS5 for a handful of games one cannot play anywhere else.

10 Mutiplatform: Horizon: Zero Dawn

Aloy takes aim at a robotic enemy

Guerrilla Games, formerly attached to the Killzone franchise, really outdid themselves with Horizon Zero Dawn in 2017. It is one of Sony's biggest and brightest new IPs.

After more than three years, the game is finally coming to PC, opening it up to a whole new audience.  If it grabs these PC gamers, this might guarantee a whole new fanbase who will buy PS5s for the sequel, Forbidden West.

9 Exclusive Forever: Bloodborne

The Hunter in Bloodborne explores the Nightmare of Mensis.

FromSoftware made a name for themselves with Demon's Soul and Dark Souls, but the PlayStation 4 exclusive, Bloodborne, is often considered their finest work and a good reason to own Sony's fourth console.

The combat is faster and encourages aggression when compared to the studio's other work. Rumors swirled about a PC re-release, but these were mostly unfounded. Perhaps a PS5 version could come out after BluePoint Games finishes the Demon's Souls remake.

8 Multiplatform: Kingdom Hearts

The first two mainline entries in this action RPG series were exclusive on the Sony consoles until 2020 when they were announced for the Xbox One. Strangely, they both came out after Kingdom Hearts 3's release on the Microsoft console.

Considering how important playing the prior games is to understanding the third game's story, releasing the originals so late feels like a missed opportunity.

7 Exclusive Forever: God Of War

This series' future was in question after God of War: Ascension until it came back in full force with 2018's God of War. The PS4 exclusive reimagines the gameplay and exploration while still retaining the spirit of the franchise.

Even more impressive, Kratos becomes a likable character. A sequel for the PS5 is no doubt in the works, though there's no word on when it will come out. A PC release of the 2018 release seems highly unlikely.

6 Multiplatform: Crash Bandicoot

Crash Bandicoot 2

The original Crash Bandicoot trilogy are three of the finest platforms on the original PlayStation. The art style helps the graphics hold up and the gameplay remains tight.

When they were remade by Vicarious Visions in 2017, they were released for all modern consoles, including Nintendo Switch and PC after a year of PS4 exclusivity. The IP is owned by Activision, who typically releases their games on as many consoles as possible.

5 Exclusive Forever: Ico

ICO PS2 Game

While not a single series, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian are all set in the same world and were made by the same team. Back when Ico came out in 2001, gamers were blown away by the way gameplay, graphics, and heartfelt, yet enigmatic narrative.

Team Ico continued this trend with Shadow of The Colossus. While The Last Guardian proved more polarizing, it is still worthwhile for any fans of the prior two games.

4 Multiplatform: Metal Gear Solid

Solid Snake makes sure Otacon is safe in Metal Gear Solid

Metal Gear Solid was typically associated with PlayStation, even though the first game came out on Windows in 2000. Metal Gear Solid 2 became an early reason to own a PS2, and the Xbox version a year later is considered inferior.

Metal Gear Solid 4, the conclusion to Solid Snake's story, is still only available on the PS3, though the rest of the games in the series are available on either Windows or Xbox. The Phantom Pain is the only entry in the series to receive a wide simultaneous release across numerous platforms.

3 Exclusive Forever: Ratchet And Clank

Mascots don't have the same pull like they used to, but Sony still has a couple of child-friendly characters in their catalog. One of PlayStation's most accessible franchises is Insomniac's Ratchet and Clank.

Even though the company was only just purchased by Sony, they almost exclusively made PlayStation games, except for Sunset Overdrive. Now that they are officially a first-party developer, none of their games will leave PlayStation anytime soon.

2 Multiplatform: Final Fantasy X

While Final Fantasy VII and VIII came to PC shortly after their respective releases, Final Fantasy X lived solely on Sony consoles until 2019. Even the first HD remaster only came out on the PS3 and PS Vita.

Final Fantasy IX had a similar story, only leaving PlayStation in 2016 when a Windows port came out. Final Fantasy X is one of the best JRPGs of this millennium, so it is good more people can experience it.

1 Exclusive Forever: The Last Of Us

Naughty Dog is a Sony-owned company, so one can throw away any hope of seeing Ellie and Joel's tragic journey on Xbox. Even a PC release is unlikely.

While Horizon Zero Dawn's PC port gives some hope, one should not expect Sony to make a habit of bringing their properties to computers. They still have to have some exclusives to make buying a PS4 and PS5 a necessity.
