SUP3R5 has canceled all orders for its Retro Inspired PlayStation 5 Consoles, which evoke the nostalgic aesthetic of PS2.

"Last night, our team began receiving credible threats to their safety," SUP3R5 tweeted (the company's Twitter account has since been deleted). "We take these threats seriously, and as a result, we're not proceeding forward. All orders are being cancelled with full refunds."

The cancelation comes after a number of potential buyers cited difficulty during the checkout process.

The Retro Inspired PlayStation 5 Consoles start off as traditional disc or digital PS5s and are then fitted with a custom housing that gives the units the look and feel of PS2. SUP3R5 noted that this is all done with gloved hands, leaving the consoles safe and untouched. However, it's also worth noting the conversion process requires the complete disassembly of the DualSense controller, which will void any warranties from Sony. The price for the digital version was listed at $649 USD, while the disc version went for $749 USD.

Production on the consoles was limited to just 304 units -- a nod to the PS2 launch date of March 4, 2000.
