Lightyear's home releases will also contain a total of six deleted scenes with an introduction by MacLane explaining that all the sequences are completely voiced and set to music. "The Dump" was the original opening scene of the film and features an examination of the environment of Proxima B as the Space Ranger volunteers put everything on the line to try and get back home. Another cut scene titled "Fathership" involves Buzz Lightyear meeting his father when he awakens in what he believes to be his childhood home. The entire experience is revealed to be an illusion, however, when he realizes he is actually onboard an alien ship hellbent on eliminating Proxima B.

Fans will also be privy to an exclusive look behind the making of the movie, with a series of featurettes detailing the process of creating Lightyear. "Building the World of Lightyear" gives a tour of Houston's Johnson Space Center, outlining how the Pixar movie's production design was inspired by its cinematic archive. The voice actors of Izzy, Mo and Darby are featured in "The Zap Patrol," while "Toyetic" takes viewers through the construction of the toy models used to create Lightyear's animation.

Serving as the original story for the popular astronaut action figure in the Toy Story movies, Lightyear follows Chris Evans' Buzz Lightyear who finds himself marooned on a deadly planet after his space expedition goes terribly awry. Desperate to return home, Buzz must team up with a ragtag group of soldiers to defeat the evil Emperor Zurg and his massive robot army in an intergalactic adventure of a lifetime. While the film received generally positive reviews for its animation, score and voice performances, it was criticized for its weak screenplay.

Lightyear hits Disney+ on Aug. 3 and will be available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD on Sept. 13.
