As much as we adore our heroes, there are moments when they aren't reliable. Pixar has presented a number of flawed heroes that had their best and worst moments displayed for everyone to see. Some of these heroes can be quickly forgiven for their blunders, but the rest have their work cut out for them when making it up to their friends.

These moments might be a misunderstanding for some of these characters, but for the rest of the cast, it makes it hard for the hero to regain their trust. Granted, no one's perfect, but that's what makes these animated characters in particular so special.

10 Cars: Lightning McQueen Cared Little For His Employee

It doesn't take long for viewers to learn that Lightning McQueen is a self-centered person in Cars. In the beginning, he isn't the most caring person, nor is he considerate of anyone else's time. Still, his transport truck Mack, follows McQueen's orders to keep moving even though Mack hasn't rested.

McQueen was foolish for trusting his safety with a driver that was tired, but it's his own fault for not compromising with Mack and allowing him to sleep. The two trusted each other with a very precarious situation that, in all honesty, could have turned into a catastrophe.

9 Brave: Merida's Father's Readiness To Strike Almost Cost Them Their Matriarch

In Brave, the men seem to be ready for any excuse to brawl, but the petty battles come to an end when they believe that a savage bear has killed the Queen. Princess Merida tried her best to explain to her father that wasn't the case, that the bear was, in fact, the Queen, and the transformation was Merida's fault.

To be fair, it makes perfect sense that King Ferguson wouldn't believe a story like that and locking up Merida was due to his concern for her safety in what looked like a deranged state of mind. Despite this justification, Merida still couldn't trust her father to take care of the situation as he only had the hunt on his mind.

8 Inside Out: Without Joy, The Rest Of Riley's Emotions Run Amuck

inside-out-pixar (1)

It's clear that Joy runs the show and is always in control in Inside Out. The rest of Riley's emotions don't really have much of a say in her mood, but given what happens when Joy is gone that control may be justified.

Without Joy to balance everything out and keep a clear head, Anger, Disgust, and Fear are out of control and have an even worse sense of directing Riley through her day. Riley almost completely falls apart emotionally and comes too close to running away from home until Joy comes around and makes the right decision to give Sadness a chance, under Joy's leadership of course.

7 Monsters Inc: Mike Was Fixated On Getting Rid Of Boo No Matter The Cost

Sully, Mike, and the dressed up Boo run in Monsters Inc.

From the moment they met, Mike didn't care for Boo like Sully did in Monsters Inc. As the guy with all the plans, he sets out to find a way to rid himself and his friend of the child, which he only sees as a threat to their success. Roughly midway through the film, Mike is given a suspicious offer from the antagonist Randolf that he jumps on.

While Mike believes wholeheartedly that they've found their way out, Sully is suspicious. Though not without a bit of sarcasm mixed in, Mike rushes off to prove that there is nothing to be worried about while Sully stays behind and is unfortunately kidnapped in Boo's place. Sully was right to not follow Mike, but it was still a tense situation nonetheless.

6 Ratatouille: Linguini Threatens Remy After Remy Betrays Their Trust

Although the concept of the story may be a bit childish, there's no doubt how mature Ratatouille is in its plot. Beyond the obvious scenes with the critic Anton Ego, the film also takes a peculiar look at the treatment of rats and how it acts as a major conflict in the film.

The main dynamic between the rat Remy and the human Linguini serves to challenge the notion that rats and humans can't get along. The two build trust in one another. But after discovering that Remy is allowing his friends and family to steal the food from Gusteau's, Linguini retaliates, and in a fit of rage, threatens both Remy's and his family's lives.

5 Soul: Joe Gardner Was Just Using 22 To Get Back To His Life

Joe Gardner in heaven in Soul

As a mentor, Joe should have understood how meaningful it was to help the younger generation find their way, but he was losing sight of that in the film Soul. The moment he is given a chance to follow his dreams, nothing else mattered, and sadly, an accident would eventually lead him to The Great Before, a plane of reality where new souls are preparing for life on Earth.

Joe's only two options are to accept his fate and let go of his life or try to steal an Earth pass from one of the new souls. He takes on the role of one soul's mentor so they can earn the pass, but Joe's intentions are purely selfish.
