Pixar is arguably the best animation studio ever made, having amazing movies like Toy StoryUp, and Soul. Many people have loved their movies over the years, and though their sequels are also great, some fans wish that there were more standalone films, not wanting to see the same characters anymore.

Though it's highly doubtful that Pixar would stop making sequels since they usually make more money than standalones, there are good points on both sides of the argument.

10 More Sequels: Kids That Didn't Grow Up With Finding Nemo & The Incredibles Were Introduced To Them

Finding Nemo and The Incredibles are two of the best Pixar movies ever made. However, they released nearly two decades ago with Finding Nemo coming out on May 30, 2003 and The Incredibles coming out on November 5, 2004. Because of this, they're not as popular as they used to be, especially when there have been many animated films that children have enjoyed since.

To reach a lot of new kids that were born in the late 2000s or early 2010s, sequels to both movies were made, giving kids new movies to enjoy as well as a reason to watch some of the studio's classics.

9 Less Sequels: The First Installment Of Both Of Those Series Was Better Than The Sequels

Because of how incredible Finding Nemo and The Incredibles were, it was practically impossible for Pixar to make the sequels better.

Finding Dory and Incredibles 2 were great for what they were, but its understandable for fans to be disappointed if they expected the sequels to be better, especially since Pixar had waited over ten years to make them. Hopefully if a third movie comes out for these franchises, they don't take as long.

8 More Sequels: Some Of The Standalone Films Are Forgettable

Movies that have sequels are usually remembered more than standalone movies as fans will be reminded of them when there's a new installment. However, some of Pixar's standalones aren't even memorable to begin with.

Movies like A Bug's Life and The Good Dinosaur never left the same impact as Pixar's more notable films, which is probably why they never had sequels anyway.

7 Less Sequels: They Don't Make Enough Prequels

A sequel isn't the only way to bring back beloved characters and continue their stories. If a movie wraps up its story in a great way, there's no reason for something to happen after that. That's exactly why more prequels should be made.

Monsters University was a great way to bring Mike and Sully back, especially since fans got to see how the two met and what their lives were like before Sully became a professional scarer. It's always nice to learn more about great characters and that's exactly what Monsters University did.

6 More Sequels: Some Standalone Movies Deserve A Sequel

Even though most of Pixar's sequels aren't as great as the originals, some of their films could still benefit from having one.

Movies like Brave and Ratatouille didn't have an ending that was good enough that a sequel could potentially hurt the first film, so it would be great to see the characters from these movies go on new adventures.

5 Less Sequels: They're Starting To Make TV Shows

Not only did Monsters Inc. get a prequel, but a TV series spin-off is coming to Disney+ soon. This is the first spin-off series a Pixar movie has had since Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, which ended over twenty years ago, so this could mark the beginning of a new era for Pixar TV shows.

In fact, since TV shows last longer than movies, this could be even better. It's going to be great to see Mike and Sully every week, and it would be even better if Pixar decides to do the same thing with some of their other films.

4 More Sequels: All Of The Toy Story Sequels Were Better Than The Original

If there are any sequels that Pixar has made that are better than the original, it's the Toy Story films. Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 4 were great movies, and Toy Story 3 is arguably the best Pixar movie ever made.

Toy Story was Pixar's first movie and didn't have nearly as much of a budget as their other films, and Toy Story was amazing, despite its few flaws, but the films that came after it improved what was already wonderful. It's a shame that not every Pixar sequel has received the same treatment.

3 Less Sequels: A Lot Of People Hated Cars 2

Cars 2 was a very strange movie. While the first and third films in the franchise were simply about Lightning McQueen learning what it meant to be both a famous race car and live a calm life, the second movie was about his best friend, Mater, becoming a spy.

Cars 2's biggest impact was becoming a movie that many people joked about and made memes of as they thought this installment didn't fit into the series due to how ridiculous it was.

2 More Sequels: Even The Worst Pixar Movies Are Better Than Films Made By Other Animation Studios

Pixar is arguably the best animation studio out there. Rather than focusing on working on many projects, they care more about their quality. This is why many fans think that they're better than other studios like DreamWorks Animation SKG and Sony Pictures Animation.

While movies from those other studios have also been good, very few have had the quality that Pixar films are given.

1 Less Sequels: It Would Be Great To See More Worlds

Ian and Barley from Onward

As much as fans love seeing Pixar's great sequels, there is, without a doubt, a limit to what can be done in each franchise.

There would never be a Toy Story movie where Woody and Buzz Lightyear visited the Land of the Dead or a Finding Nemo movie that took place in a fantasy world with mythical creatures, which is why films like Coco and Onward need to have their own identities. There are many other ideas that could become great films, but they wouldn't all work as sequels.
