Luca stars Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer and Emma Berman shared some insight into their characters, revealing how they most relate to the animated heroes.

"I definitely relate to Luca in a lot of things. I definitely relate to, I guess, his eagerness to go out and explore, especially right now," Tremblay shared at a Disney press conference attended by CBR and other outlets. "Because of COVID, I feel like we can all really relate to Luca in wanting to go out and just ride a Vespa through Italy. So yeah, I definitely relate to that."

Tremblay also noted the "Silencio Bruno" scene, in which Luca overcomes his fears and awkwardness by labeling them "Bruno" and telling them to be silent, speaks to him as an actor. "You have to really go a hundred percent on all your performances or else it's gonna fall flat. So I have to make sure I sound strong and step out of my comfortable zone."

Grazer described his character Alberto as a boy with "no restrictions. He's so eager, and he's so yearning to explore and fulfill all these fantasies and curiosities that he has."

"I'm definitely an Alberto. I've always kinda been a dare devil," he added. "I've always been the first person to do the thing, and be like, 'Hey guys follow me! Climb up this tree and then catch the squirrel!", or whatever. If I ever got triple-dogged dared to do anything, there was no other option in the world but to do it, no matter what.

Finally, Berman said she related to her character Giulia through their shared excited and joy. "She's a very outgoing character, and she's also very determined and hard-working like me."

However, Berman said that Giulia is much braver than her, which made recording certain parts of the script difficult for the young actor.

"I'd have to say that the hardest part was when she was screaming, because she's not a scaredy-cat," she said. "I would say that I'm pretty scared, like, literally my biggest fear is spiders. So I'm pretty scared of things! So when she screamed it was so hard to portray how she's not as fear[ful] as I am. Because I would be like that high-pitched really scaredy cat scream. So I think that was the hardest part. There was definitely lots of screaming going on in the recording room," she laughed.

Directed by Enrico Casarosa, Luca stars Jacob Tremblay, Jack Dylan Grazer, Emma Berman, Maya Rudolph, Marco Barricelli and Jim Gaffigan. The film arrives on Disney+ on June 18.
