'Pitch Perfect 3' is Moving Forward (Surprise?)

Considering that "Pitch Perfect 2" is already the highest-grossing musical comedy, raking in nearly $250 million -- and counting! -- worldwide, it shouldn't come as a surprise that a third film is already in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures and Gold Circle have begun negotiations with franchise screenwriter Kay Cannon, but it's not yet known whether co-star/producer Elizabeth Banks will return as director.

Another big question: Whether the studio will try to bring back stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, whose fees jumped considerably -- to about $2 million each -- for "Pitch Perfect 2," or simply bank on franchise newcomers like Hailee Steinfeld, who's already signed on for a sequel.
