Captain Jack Sparrow and Disney's "Pirates" franchise is back this summer with "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales." The fifth film in the series embarked on its promotional journey with a Super Bowl spot set to Johnny Cash's haunting rendition of "Ain't No Grave."
The trailer shows an extended look at Javier Bardem's ("Skyfall") Captain Salazar, whose crew of undead pirates are on the hunt for Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp.) The trailer also shows the return of Captain Barbosa (Geoffrey Rush) and our first look at the barnacle-covered Will Turner (Orlando Bloom,) whose return was reported late last year.
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" is scheduled for release Memorial Day weekend, May 26. The film stars Johnny Depp, Stephen Graham, Kaya Scodelario, Orlando Bloom, Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites, Geoffrey Rush, Golshifteh Farahani, David Wenham and Paul McCartney.
