"Star Trek Beyond" stars Chris Pine and Sofia Boutella feature in the first set photos for the film, which show the duo exiting a space ship (seen on ScreenCrush). Pine will reprise his role as Captain Kirk, in his new Starfleet regalia, while Boutella -- a newcomer to the franchise -- arrives in full alien makeup.

Though these new photos offer a first look at Boutella's character, no details about her role have been revealed, outside of the fact that she will play a lead role. Judging by her outfit and the way she interacts with the Enterprise's crew, however, it seems as though she has teamed up with them and is ready to fight.

Additionally, a behind-the-scenes video shows Pine and Boutella in motion, with Scotty (Simon Pegg) and Chekov (Anton Yelchin) emerging directly after their co-stars.

Production is clearly under way in Vancouver on the third installment of Paramount Pictures' rebooted "Star Trek" franchise, which Pegg told SPINOFF is “a story about frontierism and adventure and optimism and fun.”

Opening July 8, 2016, “Star Trek Beyond” also stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban and John Cho, with Idris Elba joining in an undisclosed villanous role.
