Picture it, this 'Golden Girls' LEGO set could become a reality

We didn't get those amazing "X-Men: X-Mansion" and "Assault on Wayne Manor" LEGO sets, but if we play our cards right, we could soon be enjoying a slice of cheesecake as we assemble The Golden Girls' living room and kitchen.

Submitted by brick enthusiast "lostsleep," the ode to the long-running sitcom about four older women sharing a home in Miami is gaining support on LEGO ideas. It's received 6,708 votes in less than a month; those that earn 10,000 qualify for review and a chance to be transformed into an official LEGO product.

The set recreates the entry, living room and kitchen (with particular attention given to the latter), and comes with minifgs of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, Sophia and even Stanley. "I have recreated many classic scenes from the show," "lostsleep" explains, "including a visit from Burt Reynolds, Rose shooting Blanche's Vase, Dorothy Playing 'Grab That Dough' and Rose rescuing her Teddy Bear from a mean little girl."

Although the fun little set might not have the broad appeal of many of LEGO's products, it would undoubtedly be snatched up by Golden Girls devotees. Maybe it could receive a limited release? Whatever happens, it gives me a good excuse to post this Golden Girls/Super Friends mashup, which always makes me smile:
