The Super Sons ongoing series may be canceled, but Superboy and Robin will be teaming up for at least one more story -- and they'll be meeting some unexpected superhero from outside the DC Universe. When he confirmed earlier this week that the series is ending with issue #16, writer Peter J. Tomasi explained that the title was not being cancelled due to bad sales. What's more, he promised fans that there would be more stories starring the popular young duo on the way. Today, he revealed at least one more story he has to tell starring the pair of tweenage heroes: A special one-shot team-up with Hanna-Barbera's Dynomutt and the Blue Falcon.RELATED: DC’s Super Sons Canceled, Final Issue Arrives in May

According to Tomasi, the Super Sons/Dynomutt Special #1, illustrated by Fernando Pasarin, is expected to be released on May 30. The official synopsis for the 38-page, extra large issue will be included with next month's June solicitations.

The Blue Falcon and Dynomutt were created for the Dynomutt, Dog Wonder Saturday morning animated series in 1976. The heroes are the latest in the stable of Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters to receive modern revamps via DC Comics, a critically acclaimed line of comics re-imagining characters like Snagglepuss, the Flintstones and more in both solo adventures, as well as unusual team-ups with DC Comics superheroes.
