Contrary to a casting report from earlier this month, Peter Sarsgaard ("Green Lantern") says he will not be starring in Showtime's revival of Twin Peaks.

"I'm not doing 'Twin Peaks,'" Sarsgaard told Entertainment Weekly. "But it certainly was a rumor that was not founded on nothing."

Sarsagaard is a self-proclaimed Twin Peaks fan, telling EW, "I would love to be in 'Twin Peaks.' I've watched them all, I think twice."

While we won't see Sarsagaard in Showtime's upcoming sequel series, expect to see much of the original cast -- including Kyle MacLachlan, who's been confirmed to return to the show as Agent Dale Cooper, and newcomers Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried.

Co-written by creators Mark Frost and David Lynch, Showtime's "Twin Peaks" revival is being shot by Lynch as one long movie, which will be edited down for broadcast into individual episodes. With production underway in Washington state, the series is expected to debut sometime in 2016 or 2017.
