Peter Mayhew Biopic Chewie in the Works From Fanboys Director

News of a new Star Wars film doesn't bring quite the excitement it once did, but there's a lot for fans to look forward to when it comes to Chewie. No, Han Solo's No. 1 pal won't be getting his own feature, but the man under the fur will.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fanboys director Kyle Newman has secured the rights to the life story of actor and convention staple Peter Mayhew, and intends to make a film for Inferno Entertainment focusing on when the hospital worker scored his memorable role in Star Wars.

Written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, Chewie made waves in Hollywood when it was included on the annual Black List, a collection of the best unproduced scripts. While Mayhew has made a career playing Chewbacca, he actually got his start in a 1976 film called Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger, in which he played a minotaur. The biggest challenge surrounding the project will be finding an actor who can fill Mayhew's 7-foot, 3-inch frame.
