ATLUS has announced the release dates for the remastered versions of Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden. As reported by Anime News Network, the video game company finally confirmed the release dates for the aforementioned Persona titles on modern consoles. However, the two upcoming remasters are only available digitally. While Persona 4 Golden came out on Steam in June 2020, there wasn't a way to play Persona 3 except on older systems. Before Persona fans get their hands on the two acclaimed titles, Persona 5 Royal will be available to purchase for PC, Switch, PS5 and Xbox consoles on Oct. 21, 2022.RELATED: Why Persona 3 FES Should Be Ported Instead of Portable

ATLUS announced the release date for Persona 4 Golden and Persona 3 Portable on Twitter after the first day of the live event "Persona Super Live 2022 P-Sound WISH 2022 ~Crossing Journey~," held at Makuhari Messe, one of the largest convention centers in Japan. The live event is part of Persona's 25th-anniversary celebration. Along with the release date, the tweet featured a poster of Persona's recent protagonists.

Originally released for the PSP in 2009, Persona 3 Portable came after Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 and Persona 3 FES, both for the PlayStation 2. Many players appreciate P3P combat's system compared to P3 FES. Despite not being canon, the portable version also allows players to control a female protagonist, which isn't available in P4 or P5. While fans have both P3P and P3 FES to choose from, a definitive edition of Persona 3 doesn't exist. This prompted fans to demand a remastered version of the ATLUS title.

Persona 4 Golden released as an enhanced version of the base game for the PlayStation Vita in 2012. It quickly became one of the best-selling Vita titles, with 1.5 million copies sold worldwide. The ATLUS game continued to fare well when it received a Steam port in 2020.

In addition to the three upcoming Persona titles, ATLUS is collaborating with Pandasaurus Games to create a card game based on Persona 5 Royal. Emerson Matsuuchi, the creator of the tabletop games Century: Eastern Wonders and Foundations of Rome, said the upcoming project is a "cooperative card-based strategy game that will have players take on the roles of their favorite Phantom Thieves and fight to change the world."

Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4 Golden will release on PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and through Xbox Game Pass on Jan. 19, 2023.
