Despite a third "Hellboy" film remaining nothing more than a wish and a prayer for thousands of fans, that hasn't stopped star Ron Perlman from hyping it up whenever the opportunity arises. Throughout the summer, Perlman has hinted, teased and openly discussed the hypothetical finale to his and director Guillermo del Toro's planned trilogy, and now, he's spilled the beans on specific plot details.

In an interview with "Empire" magazine, the actor lays out, in broad strokes, the plans del Toro had for the final big screen adventure of Mike Mignola's comic book creation.

"Guillermo told me what the resolve of the trilogy would look like, in broad strokes, and it's such an amazingly theatrical, cinematic idea, that I found it essential that we do it," Perlman said in Empire's podcast. "Holy shit, he's the beast of the Apocalypse. He has to take down civilization. He has to. It's non-negotiable. That's the foundation for the story, and that's why I think it would be a shame if we don't do it."

But, as fans of the previous films know, Hellboy seemed to be in a much happier place than that at the end of "Hellboy 2: The Golden Army." In fact, he and his pyrotechnic girlfriend, Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) had just discovered that she was pregnant with twins.

"One would look like the mum and one would look like the dad," Perlman reveals. "And one of them was going to be completely fucking corrupt, the other one angelic. Which one was which? Only Guillermo would make the fucked-up-looking one be the angel. So then that adds to the saga."
